It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

I find the UN useless.  They love to pass resolutions and then enforce those resolutions. Iraq comes to mind.

They also love to pass non-binding resolutions.  What exactly is the point in those.  They remind me of the meetings we have at work where we all sit around for 2 hours and at the end of the meeting the plant manager decides, we will meet again next week and discuss it again.

As far as peace keeping missions go.  I had a college history professor that summed them up correctly.  He said, UN peacekeepers are actually armed eyewitnesses.  99% of the time they are not allowed to actually do anything to keep the peace.  They are allowed to witness the atrocities take place and report them.

And by the way... that article is spot on.

Reminds me of a selection team I was involved with: I was asked to participate  in a lead illustrator selection a few years ago.  The manager had a big show at our first meeting and urged us to be fair and impartial.  We labored over the selection, gave interviews and re-interviews...hassled and tussled for weeks on end.  Nearly got into fights, people had to walk out, but in the end we made a fair and I thought, great recommendation.

When we told the manager who we recommended he paused, thanked us and announced he was overruling our selection and going for the brown nosing midget sunuvubeotch that didnt even make the top ten

That was a real turning point for me.  I have nothing to do with that BS garbage anymore, and they refer to me as disgruntled.  Hell, I just dont care anymore and cannot be bothered with that stuff.

Please don't misunderstand my position, I certainly do not like the U.N.

But, does anyone try to defend it?  And what are their arguments?  Are there any?

If not then what's keeping it going?

I'm still here. However I won't join this one; it's a lost cause on these guys. Let me just give you a few parting words: That mensnewsdaily site chose its colors well. Red, white and black ...  Perfect fit.

Cya in some other thread. ;)

a lot of the tiny little useless countries and the ones ruled by despicable despots all like the UN because it is the only way that they can matter in world...

Defense of the UN is usually by countries desperate to be heard when they have no real significance.
