4-pin CPU fan
« on: December 25, 2007, 04:25:58 PM »
I have an asrock 4coredual-sata2 mobo. It has a 4-pin connector for the cpu fan. The manual says I need a 4-pin cpu fan to make it run in what they call "quiet mode". I guess this would be half speed for the fan rpm's. Other than this so called "quiet mode" I don't think there is anyway to cut down the speed of my cpu fan. Anyway, I can't find a 4-pin cpu fan anywhere and google is not my friend in searching for such a beast. I need a 120mm cpu fan with a 4-pin connector. I do see 4-pin 120mm case fans, and I may be able to make that mount on my thermaltake xp-120 heat sink, but the case fans are slim and have narrow blades. My current 3-pin cpu fan is very thick in comparison. Does anybody have any ideas?

Thank you very much. Clutz

What you are looking for are called "PWM" or Pulse Width Modulated fans, and they are designed to use the BIOS fan controller integrated into your Motherboard to control the speed of multiple fans.

Try a visit to: Performance-PCS

They have a whole range of PWM fans in various sizes ranging from 80mm up to 120mm in diameter.

Good Luck and Merry Christmas!
