Hello gents, I just thought I'd mention that I've started work on this Fw 190 skin while I take a break from my K4 skin.

Flown by Josef Priller:

Considering that the two aircraft are so similar I expect that I'll skin the Fw 190 A5 and then make the necessary adjustments to A8.

Hooray, another 13 skin! :t
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

I would love to see more of those "Stormjager" skins around, they look awesome and that might even get me flying LW planes.

Wow, the Fw 190 has an absolute arse-load of rivets in it. :rofl

I am making steady but slow progress on the rivets with the A5. Fuselage is done on both sides and the upper wing rivets are underway.

You know that most paint programs allow you to set the spacing of the brush so you can create a series of dots rather than a solid line.

I imagine I could do it that way. The trouble is that with the 190 a lot of rivet lines are only straight lines for a few rivets, then deviate up or down for a few, then come back.

I am probably doing it a very cumbersome way. I did actually hand-draw every rivet (both black and white) on the K4 skin I'm working on. :rofl

I'm not bad in photoshop but I've never extensively used the line or pencil tool before.

I don't really mind it. I will try it out, though, thanks Fencer.

Just a little update, progress is coming along slowly but nicely.

I've not had a lot of time for it lately but I'm forcing myself to get it done a bit quicker now.

I've done most of the slow and tedius stuff and I'm almost onto the fun stuff like dirt and stains.

The markings and camo shouldn't be far off so it should be nearly done soon.

Alright! I'm starting to make some real progress now.

I've done all of the fine detail stuff and now I'm working on the overt visual aspects.

Here are a couple of screenshots of my progress thus far.

I have done very little on the RLM 76 side of things so don't pay too much attention to that just yet. The panel line dirt and all that is much too extreme on the RLM 76 parts.

As this is my first proper effort at a skin I am very interested in any and all criticism as I want this skin to be as close to perfect as possible before I submit it.

I must say, though, that I'm really, really happy with how this is turning out, I think this will be an excellent skin when it is complete, if I do say so myself.

Rivets, panel lines... whatever if you see something that can be improved call it out.

Do bear in mind that it is very much still a work in progress and requires many hours on top of what has been done but as I said.. if you see something not up to standard, let me know.

Anyway, I hope you're all as happy with it so far as I am!

Thanks :aok

It's 90% patience, mate, provided you have a basic knowledge of a photo editing program like Photoshop.

Get into it, it's really interesting.

First, very nice work on the rivets...

Second, you may want to tone them down just a bit.  They're a little too conspicuous IMO.

Last, post a screen shot of the rivet lines from the cockpit.  I usually judge a skin based on what the wings look like while I'm flying.
