Soundpak question
« on: December 28, 2007, 09:09:15 AM »
Forgive me for being such a newb, But...

Will the stickied sound paks work with the current version of AH? (version 2.11 patch 3) I just wanted to be sure, before I installed  any.

Also, is it possible to install multiple sound paks, or will they overwrite each other?

Thank you,

GhostM3

Some of the sounds may have changed filename, but they should mostly be the same since AH beta (version 0. something) . So soundpacks will work with any version.
Soundpacks will overwrite each other. You could extract each in a separate subdirectory and pick out only the sounds you want to overwrite the default sounds.

Some of the default sounds aren't there to be replaced though, such as most if not all of the individual plane/vehicle sounds.

Any sound can be replaced.  Place any new sound into your Sounds folder, but it must be named correctly.  Download a soundpack to get the individual names.  If you want to put a complete soundpack in, put it in place of your current sounds folder, NOT inside it.  Make sure your soundpack folder is named Sounds.  Any probs, post here or PM me.

I just went to C://Program Files HTC, then inside my sounds folder, and the only thing there is a notepad text document named "Cleaned" and it says-

Token file for removing old files.

So.... I dunno. but in game all my sounds seem to be fine.

EDIT: Also, I would like to find some historic gunsights to use.. does anyone know if these exist for the game, if not, any good gunsight pak will work for me, and how to install it?

thanks for answering my computer noob questions :)

Your Sounds folder should be empty if using default sounds.  If you wish to add a custom sound for something, you would put that .wav file in there (Ex. 20mm.wav).  Your you want to use a complete soundpack,  delete your Sounds folder and replace it with the soundpack folder.  Make sure it is named Sounds(most soundpacks will be already).  It's real easy.

As for sights, you can get Sketch's gunsight collection from the link in my signature.  Download it & open it up.  Copy & paste the sights you want to add to your game and paste them in your Sights folder.  Some sights also have an alpha file that needs to be copy & pasted also.  They are usually located right beside the sight file and will be black & white.

Example: SanGoir & Sangoir_alpha

THANK YOU! I got the soundpak installed and everything seems to be working great... it sounds fantastic! There is a couple of sounds I would rather have as default, mainly the check 6. How do I set this back to default? I'm guessing i just delete all the .wav files that have Check6 written in them?

Thanks for showin me how to do the gunsights..I got all messed up, I just unzipped it and put it all in there :huh

I had to uninstall and reinstall the game, before I was through... I screwed everything up :O

BUT It's all working now!

Thanks For your help!

Yes, if you want the default check6 back, just delete the custom one from your Sounds folder, or rename it to something else for safe keeping, such as check6a or check6x.  Whatever you want.  The game only looks for the sound called check6.  Just delete the custom one if you know you will never use it. Glad to help .

One more question- on the weapon sounds, which one does the game use?

M2, M2_2, _3 etc...

same with 20mm, 30mm and all that.

I'm trying to make a hybrid pack, and I can't seem to get the gun sounds to change.
