9th AF bird.  I seem to recall a color shot of it in Bodie's book I believe.  I'll check tonite when I get home from work.

I don't want to step on Dan's toes, but..

P-47D-27-RE 'Angie' s/n 42-26860 of the 512th FS/406th FG (9th AF); Asch (Y-26) Belgium, Spring 1945.

Huge profile in Tomasz Szlagor's 'Republic P-47 Thunderbolt Vol. III' by Kagero.  I can scan it in and email it to you if you want it for reference.  The bikini is lighter blue and the profile includes the nose art of to the side as well.

Thank you sir, but I enjoy this stuff.  Just in from work and nice to see my memory hadn't failed completely :)

Both from Warren Bodie's book on the Jug.

Hope your New Year is a good one too!

The green anti glare should be black according to the profile and there should be nothing aft of the cockpit.  I would blow up the picture and see if you can tell if there is something on the upper spine aft of the cockpit.

Also look at how the anti glare is curved over the cowling, you did not represent this as well.

Also the "Angie" seems to be off, not quite like it is in the photo.

Plane codes do not match as well, they are not the correct "font".

You have the yellow stop at right angles on top of the nose. It's a nice gradual swoop instead of a hard right turn.

IMO the panel lines on the wings are a bit too heavy, but those on the fuselage look okay. Might be because the wings are always in the light, but it's something to consider.

The black on the tail has a fuzzy border between the BMF and black. This should be a hard line, I'd guess. Also, look at the photo and profile supplied. The black should go straight from the vertical fin to the horizontal fin, but yours extends out ahead of both and curves around.

The color on your fuselage star-and-bar is signficantly paler than the color on the wing star-and-bar.

The bikini isn't blue in any of the references (model, profile, war-time picture) so I'd try changing that to black

No problem, glad to help.

I dug around some and I cannot find any photos of the bird.  I took another look at that profile I sent you.

I think I would go with it's interpretation over the one Dan posted.

I also think I would go with the blue bikini.  I doubt we would see a girl in a black bikini and I believe from the photo that it is indeed blue IMHO.

Use the standard Amarillo USAF font in lieu of that weird looking one on the other profile.

Cheers.

[edit] I blew up the pic.  The upper radio antenae is definately black.  And you can see some black from the canopy aft.  Also the bikini is not the same color as the cowling, I would go with blue.
