Fighterstick/pro throttle.. how do you execute your views

I have one of the buttons on the throttle set to look up and use that with one of the hats to get all my views covered.  other hat is set for trim

Exactly what I have done ... I have the center button on the front of the throttle assigned to look-up.

So if I am looking left and then want to look left-up ... I simply hit the center button on the throttle. Once I release the look-up button the view swings back to just looking left.

Steve ... for the life of me, I can't imagine trying to use the keyboard for my views, use the throttle, and fly the stick ... all at the same time.

Moving your 8 views to the top hat on the Fighterstick and then using a button on the throttle to switch to the "up" view, gives you great throttle management and stick management all while looking where ever you want ... easily.

It will take some practice, but once you get it, you will never understand how you actually flew without it.

I also have some code in my CH "map" that automatically turns WEP on when you firewall the throttle ... back off a smidge, and WEP disengages. Very usefull ... at least for me.

Steve I use the KP5 button setup on my throttle.  The 8way hat on my Combat stick I use to scan 360 around the cockpit.  When I wish to look up in any of those directions I use the Combatstick 8 way Hat and use the top 4 way hat at the end of my throttle to look up at the same time.

BTW it's best to use the 4way that is operated by the thumb on the throttle and set the 4way so when you push the 4way up with your thumb you get lookup and the 8way on the stick in conjunction.

I have the index finger button on throttle as look-up. I have the forward hat position on stick as look-forward-up.
I also have it setup for wep on fast throttle up.... with the ability to bump it off or use the thumb switch to activate/deactivate it.

About the same as many others - on the throttle handle, the 3 pushbuttons are (starting from pinkie) tunable voice (squad, usually) transmit, look down (mapped to KP0), and look up (KP5).  

Using them in conjunction with the hat on the stick gives me the possibility to look every direction, and it's completely second nature after a while.  

I'd be happy to send you my CH map file, if you are using the newest version of the control software.

Thanks a lot for all the tips! I'm having troubles w/ my hat movements.  I think I mentioned.. sometimes I look straight left instead of front left(as an example.  I'll just keep practicing.  I've only got an hour or two of stick time in.

Track  IR... I wish someone would tell me about it.  I've read about it but really want to know how well it works.

If so the track IR is ok to use (in some planes like the F4U it's a pain in the arse !)

How it work , simply you move your head to the left and your in game head turn to the left too ,same for up right and down.

A multiplication factor is applied , exemple if you move your head 10° left IRL your in game head will move a lot more like 45° so you can "turn" your real head   being still in front of your screen.

I've one and it's useful and very intuitive I needed 1 hour to adapt (a lot less than I needed for the rudder ).

I'm going to try and build one of the "FreeTrack" version of the TrackIR this weekend.
I'd hate to spend a couple hundred bucks to get motion sickness  

Do a search on the boards for free track to see how its done. All you need is the free program, a web cam, and a few diodes and such. Its a much cheaper way to see if you like it. I hope it works !  LOL!!

Me too ... if I knew 100% that it would not make me sick ... I would buy it in a heartbeat.

In a bad furball, with multiple enemy cons, I end up getting dizzy moving my head so much.  With TrackIR i found I was flying more defensively and focusing more on what other planes were doing (which is also a good thing) than what I was doing to counteract... I need to somewhat be able to disconnect where my eyes are looking with where I am actually going.  In short, hasnt worked out for me yet, but that is also because I feel like its my first day flying and even zip code noobs shoot me down.  So after an hour or so, I turn it off and go back to my trusted hat views and all is good.

I am giving it one more chance though. I just dont know when.

Rather than using an "up modifier" button, I have 2 AH stick modes.  Mode 1, I have fwd hat for UP, and the rest of the hat positions are normal flat views.  Mode 2, fwd hat is FWD+UP, and the rest are 45 degree up views.  Pinkey switch changes between the two modes which are identical other than the views.  

Actually the setup is pretty much like AWs view system where you had a 'toggle view' button.  I've just carried the same setup over through WBs and AH.

Edit:  Looks like I forgot to mark the mini-stick functions.  I have it set to VIEWS: MOVE LEFT & RIGHT, and VIEWS: MOVE UP & DOWN  (same function as arrow left & right, and page up & down on the keyboard).
