Fighterstick/pro throttle.. how do you execute your views

I was worried about motion sickness too.  I get motion sick pretty easy.  I turned off the roll axis (which doesn't offer anything really) because I adopted Mace's profile (who had it turned off) and I can tell you that I have never been the least bit queezy because of TIR.  I think the roll axis might bother me a little.

The profile I use and other tuning ideas for TIR can be found on my web site under the "Downloads" section.   http://snomhf.exofire.net

It took me several months to really get second nature with TIR (had been hat and keyboard viewer for 10 years+) and now I would NEVER want to go back.

Hmmm it seems a bit sensitive to forward push on the stick... anyway to reduce that some?

I use the CHCM program and set the middle finger button (the rightmost one as you use the throttle) to the "Shift" function.  The Fighterstick 8-way is for views, with the pinky button as the up/down modifier.  The pinky button is the Up view normally, then becomes the Down view when the Shift button is pressed.  Using the Shift function allows me to overload all of the buttons, so there is no messing with stick modes.

And using the mini-mouse on the throttle for moving the views left/right and up/down is a life saver.  Sun in your eyes? Shift your view so the canopy blocks it.  A quick look to another view and it goes back to normal.

I need to somewhat be able to disconnect where my eyes are looking with where I am actually going.  In short, hasnt worked out for me yet, but that is also because I feel like its my first day flying and even zip code noobs shoot me down.  So after an hour or so, I turn it off and go back to my trusted hat views and all is good.

I am giving it one more chance though. I just dont know when.

If you don't like it pm me, might be willing to buy it off of you.:D

Have you tried AKAK's stick scale?  He used to work for CH.

Built my "Free Track" setup last night and got it working first shot. Now I have to tweak it a bit to get it how I like it, but it looks promising.... whole deal cost about $30. I'll do a write up on it soon.

Are you turning the "trim wheels" at all?  This is a very common mistake people make.  Those are NOT "trim" wheels at all, but rather "pot adjustment" wheels.  You are far better off centering them carefully (into the detents) and then calibrating carefully in Game Controllers (Windows) making sure you have good, accurate deflection in both the X and Y directions.  After that, calibrate again from inside AH.  Another common mistake is to think that if you calibrate from Windows, that is all you need.  You MUST calibrate BOTH in Windows as well as in AH.  That is true with all axes, not just the stick.

Hope that helps.

I haven't touched them.  I'm sure it's just that I need more practice... I was just venting(whining) a little .  lol.

That would be awesome!  I was looking at the sight, but I still couldn't understand how exactly you assemble it.  Anyways, a writeup would be great!!  Oh, and have you seen any performance hits with it?
