It's not like this is a huge setback for any of the other candidates' in the race, but it's looking like things' might not be a total landslide, one way or the other.

Huckabee's Iowa win had to do with his liberal stance on farm subsidies. Now that Iowa is done, Huckabee will go right back to being a foot note.

People don't vote in the Wyoming caucus, though. "Party officials" and party appointees vote. It's kind of like the election process in North Korea.

I support no type of long term subsidy. Temporary help is fine, but the continued suckling given out each year to those receiving them is wrong.

I dunno about his farm deal, but I think it had a lot top do with him being the Religious Right poster boy. I'm sure once he's outside the bible belt his support will quickly plummet.

Off hand I would say there is a big difference between letting an entity keep the money it earned by selling a product or service vs. paying a farmer to not grow anything.

We have the highest corporate tax rate in the western world---35%...would be nice if Congress realized that corporations don't actually PAY those taxes, you and I do, at the cash register. When they give them a tax BREAK, it's just to motivate them to do something Congress wants done---do R&D on alternative fuels, open plants in certain areas (like big-wigs home districts...)

There is no such thing as a tax that affects only the "rich" or the "corporations" or..

It is all the same. every single tax affects all of us. every tax break is good for all of us. The less taxes anyone pays the better it is for the rest of us.

See the first line of my reply to john and replace jon with rpm

Then add:

tax breaks have the tendency to keep corporations in certain areas. While I do not always agree with it, I can see the value in keeping corporations in certain areas to prevent mass unemployment if they leave.

One more thing, subsidies have a tendency to go to individual families that benefit only that family that receives thesubsidy. Tax breaks benefit a corporation AND a community / area.
