V-base wire mesh fence?
« on: January 07, 2008, 07:12:16 AM »
On the OZKANSAS map at v118 over the weekend two m4's decided to set up to camp vh from inside the wire fence on your left hand side as you drive out of the hangar. I was under the impression you could not shoot through a chain link fence? How ever another individual drove out first & was taken out by the m4's so I backed out drove behind the industructable & the moment I cleared the last building I was taken out as well with a shot that came through the fence. I watched another tank drive out with gun turned to his left & he fired & the round exploded on the fence. So I then tried doing the same thing I also had the same issue of the round exploding on the fence, I could not shoot through into the fenced area the two m4's could clearly shoot out. I jumped into the manned ack same problem rounds exploded on the fence & then manned ack was taken out with a shot through the fence. In the end I smoked them out & drove through the open gate to kill them. So is this a bug or has it always been this way?

that was myselve and Reapr lyric. this can be done to all fences. what happens is you park right up against the fence and what happens is your turret is sticking past the fence, but the reset of your tank is behind the fence. this can be done with tigers panzers and shermans. NOT T34s. and we found a way to protect that door as well so watch it next time :D

You can also have your turret go through hanger walls and shoot someone.
You can not see through the wall, but if you know were he is your in good shape. I noticed an enemy tank sitting along side the spawn hanger at one of our V bases. I upped and drove over to the side of the hanger he was at and put my turret through the wall and Boom he is now gone. Can not remember who it was but that was funny.

Can also poke turret through hedgerows again you wont see him but still be able to shoot at him.

The enemy vehicle cannot return fire as the shell will explode unless he too has his turret poked through.

Only found this out yesterday and wasn't impressed.

See whats going to happen is more and more people will complain about stuff like this....mostly because they didn't get to exploit it themselves. HT will get tired of it a do something about it.

The two ends of the spectrum I can see is on one end all objects will no longer be "solid" so hiding "behind" anything will no longer be an option, neither will there be any "damage vs object" any more.

The other end is, seeing as this is a "flight" game HTC just say "aww heck, it just ain't worth the time to fix it" and just gets rid of GVs all together (much like H2H)

Cheaters never win.....in the end :noid

Yes I knew who it was, just was not going to mention names. I knew that there was either two noob's or two people who knew something I didn't,  I always jump into God mode first before I spawn anything so I knew you were both there. So it is a glitch that is through out the game. I don't take issue with exploiting such quirks next time it happens I will just bomb you.:aok

It's not cheating but it's exploiting a flaw in the game.  Unless HTC designed it like that, which I doubt.

exactly ! This is how it starts, "I'm not cheating, I'm using a loop hole in the game". Next thing you know someone figures out a new loop hole to counter that loop hole.....mostly because he's ticked off because the other guy keeps killing him using a loop hole.

and on and on it goes.

Theres nothing wrong with flying in groups, heck join a squad, but then there were those that couldn't be bother with learning to defend them selves so they started tagging along "for protection". Next thing you know we have hordes of people swarming bases and going out of there way to avoid the other teams horde....because most of them couldn't be bothered to learn how to defend themselves.... and we get a cancerous community and the arenas MUST be split.

and on and on it goes

so no its not "technically" cheating, but its not good for the community either. How many guys will cancel their subscription because "of all the spawn campers hiding behind the fences so they can't be killed" If there are enough of them, you'll see the hammer drop!

I bet you could do it with the T34 when parked parallel to the object. Never tried it.

Tank rounds "originate" at the tip on the gun, not in the breech. If you poke the origin outside the object, the round doesn't have anything in the way.

On the other hand, who ever heard of a chain link fence that can stop a cannon round?
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.
