Large stutters in game with new rig
« on: January 08, 2008, 02:35:52 PM »
Hi guys, anyone who was on last night saw me trying to figure this out.

As of now I am pretty fed up, lol.  I have a new rig with these specs, can anyone help me?

Intel Core 2 duo
2G RAM
300G HD
8800gts GPU 320MB
Windows XP
Audigy 2 audio card

I installed the hotfix and went through the skuzzy regedit process.

Any help would be great thanks.

Try lowering your video setings , like texture size down to 256/128, on the initial AH startup screen.

Also goto Task Manager and watch the CPU usage.
Paraphrasing Skuzzy, it should move from 1% to 2% max fairly regularly, like a [slow] heartbeat. Going above 2% or higher usage indicates othr programs absconding with CPU cycles. This without AH running. With AH running, it should be very high, if not pegged at 100% with AH using the vst majority of them.
I think the above is XP related.

If this helps its more likely to be a resource issue I believe.

Also go to power management and change it to desktop.  This has been a problem with a lot of new machines.

Yep, I forgot that one, thanks for the addition.
