Hit F3, look back, aim tail at enemy plane, fire. Honestly trying to defend yourself with it is more of a joke anyways, you should be using your speed to get away from any plane trying to engage you in the Arado.

the scope works in IL2, make the damned thing work in AH....

Is it too much to ask for a working periscope?

Sure, when you can come up with the code that will negate the lag issues (as HiTech already explained in a few previous posts) associated with using the periscope in the Arado or with using the rear view mirrors on the Spitfire, I'm sure HiTech will add it to the game.

So, when can we expect the code to be completed?

All you need to do is F3, look back and fire.

Using the periscope would be not problem that big. Its not a mirrored view that would add to the rendering complexity. It's just like any other gun position, only it would be fixed instead of free moving. Our F3 is just a (rather gamey) workaround. It shouldn't work in 234s at all, for it has no crewmembers but the pilot himself.

It's a valid wish. I *gasp!* support it.

F3 should never have been enabled online.

It may be a valid wish but one that HiTech has already rejected for the reasons I stated in my previous post.  Unless that is, you think you can program a game better than HiTech.  If so, then please come up with the code that would eliminate the associated lag.

In the past two months I smoked the left engine on a 262 until he couldn't stay with me anymore and had to depart (without a ping on me) and flamed the engine on another 262 (he still got both my drones while on fire and flamed me but died before me and I got the kill), both times using the 234 tail gun in F3 view mode.

A few months before that I killed a diving prop plane (don't remember what type) who only managed to smoke one of my lead buff engines.  Later that mission I got jumped by 2 P-51's trying to land.  One died in the ack and the other flew away but I lost both drones maneuvering.

These are the only three times I've been effectively attacked in 234's and I've (won) every time.  The rear 20mm is actually quite effective in F3 view mode.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

whats the difference between the standard rear view and another rear view looking at exaclty the same data with sight hairs and a circular field of view like a tank sight?

I cannot understand how lag would be any different for either rear view....I think someone is feeding you a line of COEDBS.

Not that it matters, its just a game :D

Ack-Ack. What Lusche is requesting is the same thing as the bomb-sight on the AR-234. Except it's looking behind the plane.

What lag? Do you have lag when looking through a bombsight? Do you have lag when sitting in a gunners position? Nobody did ask for a mirror.
