<S> to rook nation yesterday in Titanic Tuesday
« on: January 09, 2008, 04:40:01 PM »
to all of the rooks that gave us bishops a run for our money, and a hell of a tuesday night yesterday for defending you all inner Rook land from our HQ raids :aok

We bish did about 3-4 HQ raid attempts against the rooks, mostly to see if we could do it, the other to have a blast watching rook nation send up the airforce to stop us.

Won't get into the entire attempts, but on the last, which i thought was the best, we had the buffs at 27k in Historic box formation, escorts were at 28-30k.  Soon after we hit inland on rooks V base, all hell broke lose.

Rooks put everything in the air from 262s, to 109s, to La 7s ( :rofl ). Majority of the 109s were in fact Ta 152's. But all in all, we dropped on the HQ on the third attempt, with only 2 buffs remaining before we were destroyed.

Was hella fun, and you can be sure they'll be more were that came from while the AA's are on bishops :aok !

Talon, I only upped once for a HQ run, Was short lived due to my 163's wing departed after one of the 17's toasted it...LOL. TT is always great IMO. Good fights everywhere I go.

163's need to be rediculously expensive or removed from the game all together.  There is no way a 262 should be worth more than a 163.

163's have extreme short legs, hense why its used to protect HQ.

Honestly Believe it should remain so people dont run over to HQ every 30 minutes with no 163s in the game. Would be pretty annoying. Least with 1-pick-3's you have a chance to defend your HQ against 300 or so buffs.

No problem lucshe :aok . Btw, what's the Ta's prime altitude anyhow? Never flown her up high before... Was that your Ta 152 that was 12  of the buffs at about 35-40k?

Also, fester says he filmed it, could anyone possibly get in touch with fester and ask him to upload it to forums? Would like to see what the raid was like from the rooks point of view :D .

Yes that was me. I spotted this raid quite early on radar, so I was almost coalt when you reached the coast. I then continued to climb with (and finally outclimb) you just outside icon range. After that I shadowed your group for some time, coninuosly giving location, heading, altitude. Only when I saw the first 163's reaching the raid, I commenced my attack.

And the historical best altitude for the Ta-152H-1 was around 40k.

I agree. You have a valuable target, probably the only one in the game that matters, and you defend it with unlimited, cheap super planes, making wanting to attack it unlikely.

twas a bit of fun and as Lusche said change of pace.  The first mission I pinged up some 17's in a P38L and got a PW.   I was nailed in level flight blacking out behind a 3 flight of 17's.  Upped in 163 then and for the following HQ raid.   Bagging a few 17s but the best was the last raid.  Didn't kill any 17's but got me 2xTa152's and a P47N.  All around 25 to 27k in a Spit 14.

Long time since I had a chance to get up that high in one of those.   Wepped it through that sluggish dead band but once over 23k it picked up and handled all right.  Feathered the wep alot being zoomed by the 2 Ta's and then chasing them but the 47 was an easy one.  The guy made a mistake coming at me co alt then tried to climb out.  Wasn't faster than me 20's though:D

:lol

The 163 is the only truly unbalancing plane in the game.  When they have the ability to get into the fight, they decimate it every time in short order, noob or vet at the stick.  I haven't seen a HQ raid make it to target and back in years.

Short legs?  The la7 has just about the same flight time, but it doesn't climb at 20k/min.   Never mind those 2 x 30mm's it's sporting.  Plus the turn circle of a spit.  It's totally gamey in every way.  I thought perks were supposed to somehow mimick a plane's actual war usage vs. it's dominance in the game?  In both categories, the rocket is way underpriced in game.

It's just not fair to the buff guys to put together a couple hours worth of mission and have it blown apart in a matter of seconds by noobs in 163's.  I'm sorry, it just isn't.  Until CT comes out, the HQ raids in the MA are the closest thing to any kind of strategic bombing we can simulate, and coincidentally the closest we can mirror actual combat over the ETO in a LW setup.   To have it pissed all over in this fashion is just disrespectful.

Oh, and I'm speaking from a fighter jocks' point of view.  I was on the winning side vs. these raids, and I was ashamed that some hard work by the opposition was pissed on so badly by a bunch of heros in rockets.

Lemme have it, noobs.

Yea, i heard ya lynx. wondered what a spitfire was doing up that high, never got the model type.

GJ rtbing twice klink, sadly majority of our escorts were shot down from the S postion dancing with the IB fighters, i was the only escort that stayed with the bomber untill they dropped.

Fester nailed me in a 262 and i went boom :O .

Well i'll admit, 163s are emo, but they have there purpose otherwise they would have never been built, and put into service.
