I used to host alot back in AH1. I'd host my Terrains.

I ran a team room.  You likely have no idea how hard it is to keep the teams level, even only numerically.  It's even harder when, like me, you try to balance skilled players between the teams.  What looked to you like stacking may not have actually been so (although, I am certain, in some cases they were).

Glad I got in on this one.

Actually, only part was quoted.  There's more, but as Ghastly pointed out it wouldn't make the administrators happy.

He wasn't the only reason, there were other issues as well.  It's more of the case of he was the straw that broke the camel's back.

One important difference Ack-ack is that I'm virtually positive that I saw a reply from Skuzzy where someone asked about doing so, and was told that to do so is a violation of the terms and conditions for use of the game.

edit-> just found what I was looking for.... I hate the fact that half the time all I can think of to search for to find something is a handful of 3 letter anacronyms ...

Thanks for posting that Ghastly.  I wasn't aware that it is in violation of the end user agreement.

Back when I was "ROX", I would host "TEAM" arenas, only to be sadly dissapointed when only a vast minority followed the MOTD.

I, in one way miss the H2H rooms for those who followed the hosts requests...

In another way, I understand why HTC canned it.

Too many who just didn't care.

PS-- I used Shuffler's maps on many hosting ocassions.

I agree entirely.  My experiences were quite the same; I spent more time warning people and, later, simply kicking rule breakers without warning than I did actually flying, on many days.  I tried my best to be fair, but when a significant portion of the players refused to reciprocate or have common courtesy, I didn't have much choice.  Neither did Hitech.

Hello, SgtPappy.  I've been unable to use my joystick since about the time that head-to-head shut down, because of the hand injuries.  I've got another appointment with the doctor in a week.  I'm hoping I'll be able to use a joystick by the time Thunder Works Studios' Jet Thunder and Gennadich's Knights of the Sky come out.  I, too, miss our P-38 flights.  Blue sky!

As far as the complaints about the tone of the "free 8 player"..well from what I've seen the "online arenas" are no different, with the exception of the TA.

I do hereby cast my vote to enable the HTH 8 player side of the game..AT LEAST FOR THE PAYING CUSTOMERS! :furious
They do NOT want to risk their product again by letting it run on other peoples' servers. Can't blame them

Sorry to read you're still having hand problems Benny. Best wishes on regaining full use. I always enjoyed your arenas.

Another young fellow, Frank, way back when, would host Frank's Co-op Missions and they too were great when they went off well. He ran mini scenarios of 4 identical allied vs 4 identical axis and we'd meet at 15k, sometimes with icons off. Never had adrenalin pumping like some of those.

IK3 also ran a pretty good room and I also enjoyed Boson's Solomon Islands.

The MA doesn't always meet the enjoyment level of some of the better 8 player rooms, but on the other hand, it's always open and someone is usually there, and there's less of a headache for HT.

Eight Player is what convinced me to subscribe to AH II.   Without it I don't know if I would be here.   Probably not.

Are you blaming me?:D

@ Old Sport:

I asked Frank a long time ago if I could host the same idea he had (Co-Op). He said yes, so for a while I was hosting Co-Op in H2H. It was grand, the only thing unrealistic about it was the icons, I didn't want to bother telling people to turn it off. Because there's no way to determine if the other guy has his on or off.
