How about the person who's transport(and is still alive in c47/m3/jeep/lvt2) & has the most troops enter the maproom gets credit for the capture?

You do have to admit that there is a lack of consistency in the logic of killing aircraft vs. killing objects (maproom included).

I never really thought / cared too much about it, but the inconsistency is there nonetheless.

i think all attacking players in the immediate area should get capture credit, they all helped, or tried to help.

Sounds like a good idea to me SirLoin - but would (or should) this apply if the first goon got 6 troops in, then died or landed, and someone else got four more in?

But, you have to admit, it's not really the first nine that matter.  It's the last one that counts.

If I up troops it is generally to go to the base of capture and watch... I supply popcorn and a movie if the capture takes long.

Don't all ground targets work this way?  I'm virtually positive that the other day when I dropped on a VH, but missed by just enough to leave it up, and the guy behind me strafed it the rest of the way down with his 50s and he must have gotten the credit for taking it out (I didn't, I'm pretty sure).

Not complaining, just stating that as far as I know that the way it is for all non player target objects, so it's really not that inconsistent.

What if:

Goon A-->5 troops in 5 troops die.
Goon B-->5 troops in 5 troops die.

Both Goon A and B survive.  Do the both Gooners get the the perks or do they split the capture.  Call it a half cap

They get the xxx destroyed message for finally taking it out but you each get credit for the amount of damage you did to the object.

Really?  I thought you didn't get any damage credit unless the object was destroyed.

Nope, you get damage points for every round you put into an object as long as you're in attack, bomber or GV mode.
