1. We're working with Skuzzy to create two discussion forums - one for allied, the other Axis.  Depending on what side you declared, we'll be adding you to each forum.

2. We're making a change in the reward for the winning and loosing side for each round.  For round 2, each commander will have the choice of substituting aircraft up to a specific year, two for the winning commander, one for the loosing.  For example, if Axis wins, the choice is up to 1942. They can add:
Bf 109F-4
Bf 109G-2
Bf 110G-2
Fw 190A-3 (sub A-5)
C.202
Ju 88A-4
M-3 Halftrack
Tiger I

Allied Choices
A-20G
B-26B
Boston MK III
Hurricane II C or D
Lancaster III
P-38G
P-40E
Seafire IIC
Spitfire V
Spitfire Mk IX
Il-2 Type 3
Sherman

3. I've also been considering points to award each commander, and then assign them to the vehicles/aircraft to spend at the end of each round. This of course would depend on what they've captured at the end of each round.  I.e. capture 4 bases = 8 points.  A Spit V might be 3 points, and a B-26B 4.

4. We will also announce the map before the next round so that commanders and squads can make recommendations on what 'weapons' to pick based on the next location.

As time goes along, we'll be tweaking each session to ensure the gameplay is balanced for all (ie. radar settings, AAA settings).

I've been wondering, are we using the same map for every round, or are we going to use any of the existing AvA maps to go to war?  :)

What if we refuse to declare a side and consistently change to help balance? or if we don't do the squad thing (squads are not my cup of tea) ?

Can we get some kind of accomodation for... lack of a better term here... the "swing player" ?

I am guessing that if you are the type that tries to balance sides and make things interesting, you are probably not wanted there you trator

Meh, been called worse... especially after shooting down the person I was winging with 5 minutes before :) I don't even get to play very often, and thus, have little to no impact on the game.

I really do like the AvA map though. Very short transit, almost always fighting on the deck, in fairly well matched fighters. You can tell the sheep from the wolves on the first turn. Haven't seen a milkrunner or score-padder. It's just... really, really nice. A great change from the MA, which I can only bring myself to up in maybe once or twice a month.

You can switch sides - no problem, it's just that when the event is over, you will not be able to qualify for medals and awards - but only if you score points for that side. Does that answer your question?

Yeah, well... so?  We only let it take 50% gas then as a 'fill-in' plane :p

Sounds good to me. I was wondering if it was possible to collect ALL of the medals... but so much for that :)

Mister Fork, I have come to not expect much out of you, so this one has really taken me by surprise.  :)

But I have to say well done and a great idea.  May take a little tweaking and learning as you go, but so far been having a blast and hope this is not a short lived trend for the AvA.

Too bad we can't get kills by location.

I'm willing to bet A17 has seen more action than the bunny ranch.

Could even be helpful for traffic shaping future maps.

Sitrep from an admin:
Last weekend, was visiting my parents, didn't get around to connecting my own laptop and controllers for Saturday evening, unable to play.

Monday: Kept discoing, good party I thought, well it wasn't. Was too tired to check in to it.

Tuesday: Today I'll log in! Checked the connection details in AH "lobby" first, got some packet losses in there, entered arena, checked network stats (or what was it named at the right click menu), didn't look too good. Exited the game, Pingplotted the arena, saw about 70% packet loss, the first hop exiting Finland, hel1.fi.eunetip.net, crap.

Wed: Eunet's connection still suck, still major packet loss at eunetip.net Helsinki.

Thu: Reconfigure the adsl-router/firewall, let's see now.. Pingplotting the route to AvA server for several hours. 70% packet loss at the eunet-network, did send an e-mail to the operator, local router seems to be functioning.

Fri: Situation getting better, maybe I'll get to play tomorrow, still no word from the operator but the packet losses oversea seem to be getting less...
