Discussing tactics, pilots changing teams
« on: January 17, 2008, 02:40:10 AM »
M'not too sure if this can be done....

I'm havin' a great time with this AvA...

We were discussing/planing attack tactics/strike with some allied squad C.O's and pilots for a future scheduled date...
Next thing I see is some players switching sides.....

Maybe his/their intentions were good. Simply to balance the teams and make the game more fun....

Can HTC initiate a time clock to prevent this ?
Once you start on a chosen team, you are stuck there till the end of the tour...

Can you guys implement something to prevent this ?

As I have experienced it over the last week in AVA,  the only effect it would seem to have is to even numbers.  As a precaution though, I would prefer a strict no switching rule especially during peak usage.

What we need is whole squads to take part in this, and hold squad nights here. Squads govern themselves and have all the comms etc they need. I dont think we can have a secure system with the pot pouri of players we have in there.

Players switch at the drop of a hat. Lastnight a guy came in, and most of the map was Bish, all the V bases sout, all their objectives, and many of our other fields. At that moment we had an advantage in players. He said he was going to switch to balance the sides. I told him stay so we could get some bases back. He didnt. Some people want the battle, not the war. So there is really no way to include them in planning.

Work on squad recruitment and get squads in here.

You guys are kidding right?  I logged in and the Axis had 12 more guys than the Allies.  So, I went A for and hour.  I checked the roster and the Allies had 12 guys more than the Axis.  So I switched again.  Eventually, I checked the roster again and the tables had turned so I switched again.

Plans? You make plans?  Like what?  Lets get 20 guys over a field to vulch it?  Its bad enough already in there.  Just go back to the MAs and get it over with :rofl

LOL Ded I did the same sort of thing (although just switched from axis to allied once). For the record... I took no secret documents with me and the photos from my spy-cam all turned out blurry. :D

lol, the funny part is that the war guys, have no clue on how to fight a war.  They come after the same 3 fields over and over and over and even with numbers, it is very hard to take them.  There is one strategy that I have seen so far.  "Hey, lets all go that way.  You two upfront de ack while the rest run out of ammo vulching.  Hey! where is the goon?  Frigin spies :furious "

lol

Dedalos and Detch01
Planned little attacks makes the scenario better for both sides !

As initialy said in my thread, switching sides for the right reason is VALID for many of us.
Unfortunately some players are not so SPORT like you guys. They swicth sides to take advantage and spoil the atmosphere for many of us who try to make this tour fun to play in....

Myself and others, try to plan a bit of strategy when the squad is available in numbers. We discuss a future date and time and what would go up(planes) to make an interesting strike....
Of course I hope that we encounter adversaries. This what makes the whole tour fun.
But when the element of surprise is defeated because one/some players knew what we were planning several days ago
:(

Anyway I see your point and cheating/poor sportsmanship is present in all arenas.
Just thought HTC could try to change something to MINIMIZE or to DISCOURAGE this swithching time like they do in main arenas(45mins)
Maybe they could increase to 36hrs ...

Salute guys and tks for your input:aok

The country switch time is set to 40mins in the AvA....The reason it's not set higher is to allow those that like to keep the sides balanced a chance to change...

That being said...

Spys will be shot....

Spies will also be forced to date one of the admin's sister.  I'm not sure what is worse, being caught as a spy and the humiliation, or the date.  :D

I dated Storch for a few days.  Based on the way he looks, I really don't want to meet his sister.  So, no more spying for me :(

Unfortunately there are players who will take advantage of the ability to switch sides - it goes with the territory. Even restricting a player's ability to switch sides won't cure spying or even slow it down. Those who want to spy will spy - they'll use their squad channel, private messages, TS, some IM software or even a phone. The only way to handle this is for those planning missions based on surprise to refrain from broadcasting their intentions to people they don't trust.

We usually log in as Allied, but if the sides are out of whack our squadron is going to switch sides to even it. Just gonna let you know upfront.

I've flown both.  It's all about side balancing for me.  I could care less if someone is running a mission and has secret plans.

I wish TrueKill were helping out to run the allies.

He seems to have been pursuasive in imparting tactics to the axis side. The 110 feints to multiple feilds along with distraction group attacks away from the primary target are working with excellent results against us allies. We allies are allowing ourselves to split into small ineffective groups with no central push to take bases. We FURBALL and loose site of the big picture.

But then again the 110 in this period is a serious fast and effective JABBO while being a dangerous interceptor. The allies current fighters and single engined slow boat under armed limited bomb load JABBO tend to dampen our boys spirits along with everyone spending too much time defending and not attacking axis core feilds.

This defensive trend may change if the allies receive the B25C in the next round. At that point its bomb load will be worth the diversion attacks by lone players while massed fighter escorted B25 raids hit primary feilds. An up side for the allies is it looks like some pilots are naturaly discovering team tactics with combinations of F4F and Hurri to twhart the A6m's nible agility.
