Yeah, I can see that point. But the driving while under the influence is the part of that which is against the law. And the death part comes in when you're talking about possible consequences. I still think it's a sound punishment for the DUI.
*edit* I did something similar with one of my own kids (disgusting scare tactic). One of mine was getting the fire-bug. Found burned bits of paper on the back porch several times a week (two weeks in a row).
I printed news articles giving gruesome details (children screaming until death, etc) and the most horrifying pictures I could find of charred bodies and survivors who were burned severely.
Once I had enough to fill the entire front of the fridge, I put all of them up.
It wasn't at all meant as punishment. But it truely was intended to serve as a warning for the horrific consequences of irresponsible behavior. I want them to learn that before we're all dead in a house fire ~ not after.
Paper burning on the back porch stopped.
