Need HELP with my salami!
« on: January 18, 2008, 11:12:52 AM »
There was another thread talking about cheese, but I didn't want to get Skuzzinated for hijacking..

When I was a kid living North of Chicago we'd get a Danish Salami made by Dak...it was AWESOME.  They had the spices DOWN and was evidently aged some...and it was was made with BEEF as opposed to many salamis that are made with mainly pork.

I know the Dak company still exists in Denmark (they export a boatload of ham), but for the life of me I cannot find the salami anymore, and that's a shame because they had most domestic salamis beat on taste hands down.

DAK 80's Retro Commercial

As opposed to many Italian salamis, it was not very big in diameter, maybe two inches.

A sandwich of thick slices of Dak salami, brick cut swiss cheese, a swipe of mayo on rye (or French) bread WAS DA BOMB!!

I have tasted some of the pork based Italian salamis, and it's just not the same.

Does anyone have a connection for this tasty salami?  I have searched stores and internet to no avail.

Maybe some of our Danish players might have an answer...and just maybe a connection!!

****UPDATE*****

I have been contacted by the Plumrose Distributing company of New Jersey, and they tell me that the salami is no longer marketed in the continental United States....

But it IS in Puerto Rico...

Anyone in Puerto Rico wanna talk a deal about hooking a statesider up with some salami??

Smuggling requires bringing something into the US that otherwise would be illegal here...I don't think SALAMI is on that list.

No, I'm talking about making a deal with someome, OFF this board (preferably email) to reimburse them PLUS shipping and then some more as a "thank you" for UPS'ing me some salami.
