Never really enjoyed the 190s much and I have the least experience in the F. Any tips or pointers to work on while I warm up for FSO? Appreciated!

Basically its an A-8, its a bit slower in acceleration and turns slightly worse but the difference is very small. If you can fly the A8 you can fly the F8. As for the F8 in FSO look for IL-2's:D . The la-5 and yaks will eat your lunch in any sustained fight. Your "double inferior" to them all. Meaning you cant run and cant fight then either. As much as folks might whine the real life tactic would be to stay fast and take any/every front aspect shot you can get. Biggest advantage is that both yaks have inline engines, a radiator hit will bring em down quick. I'd be popping of 20 mikemike at anything I have a ratsoscar chance of hitting from any angle I can get.

FSO is a team event.

You'll have fighters covering you.

You do your job, they do their job and hopefully you'll accomplish the mission.

Teamwork.

The problem with that is that the opposing aircraft is the yak 9T. Which has no ords and is basically semi useless vs GV's. Basically I think you'll end up with the 9T's hunting the 110's and F8's while the IL-2's work the GV's over. Leaving the 9U's and la-5's to work over the rest of the axis fighters.

I seriously doubt the germans will have many survivors amonst the F8's and 110's (both should rack up some GV kills however) but the 9T will dominate both down on the deck...

Of course you do, but the flip side is it only takes 1 37mm vs a plane. The 110 is a big target and the F8 while very "floppable" cant turn for beans.

If I'm running the allies I'd have the 9U's tasked primarily as escort and only "allowed" to hit soft GV's...not waste the 37mm on the PZ's if enemy planes are anywhere near.

The 190 doesn't compress, it outrolls everything, and can take a beating (except the Dora's radiator).

It has GOBS of ammo, so spray & pray is a valid tactic. So is HO. Especially in the F8 with all the armor.

Do NOT get slow. Get a wingman and do the thach weave. Keep a couple guys high to de-louse your teamates coming out low dragging bogeys.

If you are getting bounced by a Yak that has a ton of smash and you're below 300mph and 200 feet, split s at the right time - he either augers or is off you. Then your hi cover has time to get to him while you get out and get more alt.

You can also force an overshoot and get the Yak as he goes on by - with all that ammo, why not try? Seeing canno rounds over your canopy after a bounce is daunting.

If the Yak is patient he will get you, but work as a team and you stand a chance.
