I'm currently enrolled in online classes for a degree seeking program which some of the content is streaming video and such. So I don't like the idea but thats capitalism. ATT has been bugging me anyway and I get my television from satallite.

Yep that's our cable companies. Always charging more for less service. I dropped my cable connection 3 years ago for DSL. DSL was more than 2x as fast and $20 bucks cheaper. Cable was connecting at .9 gig and DSL at 1.9 gig. The funny thing was when I went to leave cable they said they could speed my connection up. I said I'm still saving 20$ and they said they could lower the price. I told them they should have thought about that sooner. I also dropped my cable tv for satelite tv.

I never measured the speed of my Cable connection when I first hooked it up but I swear it got slower and slower.

Setting price by speed should be plenty. Offer som low speed alternatives (less than 1mbps) for cheap and raise the prices on the high speed (10-100mbps) connections. After all its 10% of the users that use 90% of the bandwith anyway and i would not be suprised if they have the really fast connections so they should "pay" the for the majority of the infrastructure upgrades.

In a company podcast early today the ceo of verizon was asked about this, his response was:
Well in the words of Ronald Reagan to jimmy Carter in a presidential debate
" Well there you go again"

He also stated emphatically verizon will NOT be following this lil trend as it would run off customers, deter future customers and possibly cause the company to fail .
On the otherhand he applauded time weeners move in its effort to bring morwe customers to verizon's Fios service

time warner is aol. didn't they buy em?

everything evil is embraced by time warner.. they use the most vile scemes to sell their publications and tapes.. make book clubs seem honest and forthright.

Their mag is toilet paper.. time is simply a lefty piece of trash.
