Breaking the Siege; A few issues
« on: January 18, 2008, 11:28:57 PM »
I want to start out and say I really apprciate the team trying to incorporate GVs, and I understand that there are going to be growing pains.

for giving this a shot.

Here are the issues...

One really...

The GV spawns are too close... This was like a MA spawn camp, we were under fire as soon as we spawned... Thats NOT fun.

Give another few klicks so that we can get organized and work out a defence/offence...  Being thrown into canon fire at minute 0 second 1 is NOT FUN.

Everyone in FSO is used to spending 15 minutes getting into position and fighting a good fight...

If its going to be an Unreal Tournament Frag-a-thon, we don't need FSO for that.  We could do something like... well, I dunno... Perhaps Unreal Tounament?

FSO is about strategy AND tactics.  Lets do that.

Tonites FSO was basically like this...

Spawn a GV... Die...  Go talk to Girlfrind for 40 minutes, then spawn a plane and start doing FSO for real.

I like what you guys are trying to do, but this initial version should never be repeated.  This was the pilot episode that got the series cancelled :D

Lets move forward, and make it better next week... Because I'm not going to play three weeks of this, and I suspect I'm not alone.

GV type FSO's are notoriously difficult to plan for many reasons.  Like you stated all credit is due for the planner's involved.  Very few CM's are willing to dip into the GV's but we do get some from time to time.

I personaly would like to see more GV's in the FSO event so press the issue and let's learn from it.

It's seem's we try it then we leave it for a long time.  Maybe a limited GV role in every FSO is the ticket to get everyone into the roll they are most happy playing in an FSO.

...And therefore, will not happen again.  I'll look at the spawn positions offline.  If I can't set something up to support what my original intent was, I'll make an adjustment.

Yeah, I know you will stoney.  Trust me, I have ultimate faith in you as a designer, and I know you know your stuff.  I'd love to see a CM team with 5 stoney's on it!

I have no fears about what you're trying to present.

Hopefully next week will be more smooth.  The intent is excellent, the implementation had problems... It will get better.

Compared to the first event, we used GV's in, some 2+ years ago. This one went pretty good. Yes we need to make some adjustments, and we will.

I think by Frame 3 this will be a very enjoyable event.

Oh how I remember that one. The German tanks were invisible to the Russian tanks.  Spawn points were good but then we were shelled by an invisible enemy. Wish I could repeat what was being said on the radio while this was going on.:lol

Well, after frame 1, our squadron learned from our CiC's mistakes and were very dissapointed in the actual plan. (just the small portion of the plan that affected a small amount of squadrons)

We still had fun flying together, working on a plan together and doing our best together.  We can't wait to do it again.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

I had (11) plus (3) AK's (imagine that) with me.

Easily 30+ La's and then to top it off, 20K Yaks came in to clean up the scraps.

Panzer duty was not much better.  First round of the fight found me...
