Make sure "can collide" is not checked.....

It works a whole lot better with it off...

Explain please.

From what I remember, Can Collide should be checked.

When I would fire the cannon, its 'shell' would explode immediately as though it was hitting something up close..   The only time it would not explode was if I would fire it at a very high angle.   I thought at first maybe it wasn't on level terrain, or maybe there was something on the terrain that blocking it, but didn't see anything..  I tried a few different things such as moving it around and selecting different terrain types with no luck.  But once I unchecked the 'Can Collide' option it started working correctly..

Set as Gun Battery (BAT),  battery.  See examples at A16 on avasml up in the your arena. There's a problem with land mode; the range is about 16 miles before things go haywire, particularly pointing due north. There is another option that also works for your problem but I haven't tested it for ranges beyond 16 miles.

I had it set to 'Hard Gun Bat', not sure what the difference is....  What is land Mode?

Correction

Shore Batteries and AAA

Shore Batteries and Manned guns must be placed using the Terrain Editor while AI ack may be placed using the TE or Object Editor.

Click the location for you gun, and select battery for a shore battery or bas0 for a manned ack and place it. A shore battery needs the property Hard Gun Bat (~4k damage) and a manned ack needs it's property set to Gun Bat Soft.

It's best to Place AI ack in the Object Editor but they can be placed in the TE as gng0 for 88mm Flack, gng1 for 37mm ack and gng2 for quad 50(?) cals, set the properties as Auto Gun.
Easy in-game again.

Yeah, just because something doesn't crash the TE doesn't mean it works in-game. I made the same mistake when someone posted the Gun Bat setting was working, and is does if you want to gun down the SBs.:(
