Breaking The Seige, Frame 1 Score
« on: January 23, 2008, 12:35:48 AM »
Final Tally

Russia:  58

Germany:  38

Score Breakdown:

Air to Air:  Russians (38); Germans (18)

EA Alpha:  Germans win because they had a fraction of the rule violations  the Russians committed (10 Pts Germany)

EA Bravo:  Russian Kills (19); German Kills (14)  (10 Pts Russia)

EA Charlie:  Russian Kills (14); German Kills (9)  (10 Pts Russia)

EA Delta:  Russian Kills (3); German Kills (9)  (10 Pts Germany)

Close Air Support was the difference in EA Bravo.  Had those IL-2's not been quite as effective, we would have had a 48 to 48 tie.

In case you're wondering how I treated all the unsanctioned re-ups...GV's that reupped for a 2nd, 3rd, etc. life had their extra deaths counted in the score for the other side, while any kills they got on their subsequent lives were thrown out.  For aircraft, the reups were counted in the denominator of the percentage used to compute the air-to-air score.  Their kills achieved after their subsequent lives were thrown out.

In Frame 2, each rule violation will earn their country a 1 point reduction in the overall score, in addition to the penalties built into the score formulas outlined in the preceding paragraph.

If I understand your question correctly, you're asking about the language in this quote from my first post.

There wasn't a "fraction rule" that was violated, there was "a fraction of the rule violations"...Meaning, if the Russians committed 20 rule violations in EA Alpha, and the Germans committed 5 rule violations, then you could say that the Germans committed 1/4 (one quarter) of the rule violations that the Russians in that EA committed.  Thus, "a fraction of the rule violations".  This is merely an example, and not the actual tally of violations.

In EA Alpha, I stopped counting Russian rule violations after about the first dozen.  There were multiple respawns by Russian vehicles, including respawns that killed German vehicles.  There were a few rule violations in EA Alpha by the Germans, but they paled in comparison to the Russian side.  Overall, the combat in EA Alpha was close, but I had to assign some sort of relative penalty for the quantity of rule violations committed, and did so by automatically awarding the EA victory to the Germans.

And, EA Alpha was made up of those vehicles that spawned from A5 for the Russians, and A42 for the Germans, as shown in the Frame 1 objectives that were distributed to all the Russian and German squads 6 days prior to Frame 1.

Stoney, thanks for explaining this.  Be careful not to slap our players, though.

Splitatom, if you want to be answered, you must make an effort to be understood.  It's not anyones job to try and figure out what you mean, it's your job to be understood.  Put forth the effort or expect to be ignored.  You will be addressed with the same effort as you put into your comments.  If you can't take the time to make your points clear, how can you expect anyone to want to answer you?

This isn't a discussion point, it's a simple statement.

Stoney,
I don't expect you to adjust frame one in response to this, but for the record, I was forced to respawn due to a joystick problem.

I don't think that dozens of people would have had the same problem all at once of course, I'm just pointing out that some of them might have been legit.

Perhaps this is a limitation of the scenario... but had I been in an aircraft that same respawn would not have drawn any attention.

Of course I didn't have kills when I spawned out either... Sounds like you are saying some folks did.

regardless, if the spawns are not within shooting distance of each other then there will never be a benifit to respawning... So, that seems like a design error right from the start.

Glad I was Axis :-)  Had I done that respawn as a russian and added to the larger chaos I'd feel a lot worse.

I guess what I'm saying here is that if the CM team will be careful in the future not to spawn teams within shooting distance of each other, then this should never be a problem again... I hope that lesson was learned... And learned well.

Same here. I should have mentioned it, but my X.O. had to respawn a T-34 after he accidentally exited his T-34. He had not taken any fire yet and had not fired at anyone yet. He asked me if he could respawn after the accidental exit and I said yes. If I recall it was in the first 5 or so minutes of the frame.

Next time I will let you know if it happens again.
