Anybody seen it?

This movie has had quite a variety of good and bad reviews.

I personally liked it, the filming must've been fun, and it kept you on the edge of your seat.  The whole concept of HOW they filmed it also made me very interested in the movie.  It's as if somebody had found that camera, and was watching all that happen.

The camera could get a little shaky at times, to a point where it's nearly impossible to see.  After seeing it 2 times however, you get increasingly used to it, and hardly notice it.

The ending however, sucks.  I haven't seen a worse ending to a movie ever.  Luckily, the non-stop action and special effects of the movie back it up.

I thought it was pretty good.

Loved it, and the ending was perfect.

That depends, my ignorant friend michael said the movie sucked because it had no ending.

There was an ending, but it could be interpreted in two ways.  A happy ending, and a sad ending.

<<>>

When the bridge crumbles on top of them, their last words were "I love you"
However, you don't know if the monster asploded or not, where it came from, or why it even came.

You could be pissed off because you didn't know the above answers, OR, you could be curious.  My first thought was, "Okay, the movie had no ending at all."

As I thought about that however, I found that it was supposed to be like that.  It's not one of those movies where everything will be explained.  The producers WANT you to not know what is going on, but rather give you subtle hints.

For example, when the girl got bitten by one of the little creatures and exploded, just before that happened, people were rolling in a person with an exploded stomach saying "We got another bite here."  Minutes later they rolled in an alien.
So because of that, I believe when she exploded, a tiny little alien came out of her tummy :)  What a way to go eh???

Well I just watched it, have to say it was a pretty good damn movie, although I don't know how you could think theres any question on weather it was a happy or said ending, definitely sad.  Yeah It would have been nice to know more background on where it came from, but the fact that you never find out doesn't take away from the movie.  Before the movie cam out there was alot of speculation on weather you would get to actually see the monster, and I'm glad that you did.  My only complaint is I wish it had been longer, it's only about 80min long.  I'd give it a 8/10.

In the very last scene, the leftover bit from Coney-Island a few weeks earlier, you can see something big splashing into the water in the background.

At the end of the credits, there's a garbled audio that says 'It's still alive'.

But most importantly, you already KNOW that it's going to be a sad ending, in very beginning it says 'This is a recovered tape from the area previously known as 'Central Park'.

My question is though...

Why the name "Cloverfield?"

I don't know, I just checked it and didn't hear anything like it say It's still alive, was this during the credits?

I'd have to guess it's just a code name the military gave it.

Cloverfield is the street the production offices are at. I should know, I used to work nextdopr.  :)

They started by using it as a codename, then they realized it worked as a suitably enigmatic movie name.

Yeah I don't know about the something in the water, I just watched it and looked for that and all I saw was a boat out there that could have looked like something in the water, but its a boat.

Apparently, that was the name the production company (Bad Robot) used to keep the project secrete.  It is supposedly the name of the road Bad Robot is located on. (That or one near by)

Not sure why they kept it for the name of the film though.
