Quit now and save yourself the time. Not kidding. I've got multiple accounts, and actively pvp in the "great war" vs BoB. It's worse of a time sink than WoW or AH2. Spend 5 hours in a 130 man fleet, part of a 400 man larger fleet, which was part of a broader 2000+ player offensive. As soon as the other team showed up to fight, the server for that node crashed. Was a complete and total waste of time. Lag was usually over 5 minutes, and at times over 10 minutes.

Or, if you insist on playing, run missions... lots & lots of missions, until you can get yourself either a Heavy Assault Cruiser with t2 guns, or even better, a Command Ship.

oh, and always keep your clone & ship insurance updated.

Looking back, I don't understand how I was able to spend so much time at a game so repetitive. And I wasn't an hardcore player.

About EVE:
You need to grind A LOT. Connections and server issues were huge when I left (more than 1 yr ago). Combat can be fun but not as much as AH was (in the good ole days).

But the worse part is customer support...Customer support is bad. I mean REALLY bad. Some devs are players or are friends with players and it has been proved that BoB has been helped (and not just a little) by devs in the past. The devs caught cheating were kept in place while the players exposing the conspiracy were banned. How nice...

About MMORPG in general
The catch is that it takes a real effort to quit when your characters (don't ever dream that you'll be satisfied and competitive with only one toon...) have evolved and are moderately powerful. Because when you quit, it means that all those hours (and money) have been spent for NOTHING. (Trust me , the game ceases to be fun pretty quick. At the end, it was feeling like a 2nd job.)
But if you stay, you'll be kept in the 'hamster wheel' cycle of 'grind some more to get the new gear'. By the time you have it, it is already obsolete because the 50 hours/week players (and the devs friends) have the just received the 'new gear mk2'...

MMORPG are a bad drug and I won't ever try another one.

It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye... then it's just a game to find the eye

BoB is taking a beating. Not much longer left in 0.0 for them. They've lost all of their space except Delve, abandoned all of their renters, and over the weekend had 80% of the 0.0 alliances with thousands of ships & heavy capital support into swarm Delve. Shot up all their stations, reinforced over 30 POS, destroyed a ton of cyno jammers, and are now in full on siege mode.

I'd speculating another month or two and they'll be driven back to Empire space.

"MMORPG are a bad drug and I won't ever try another one."

I did that on DAoC . The realm v realm was quite good though , 8 man groups v 8 man . Not alot of lag either . But that constant getting new gear etc was a never ending chore at the end .

4 of us started and of that group two are still married . Think hard on that .

Eve online, hmph where to start.

Its just like any other point & click game.
Now i can go on and on about how something in the game are totaly retarded and uncalled for.

For one, you cant train multiple chars on ONE account, so often times if a player wants two chars, he must pay 15 bucks a month more (per char).
This forces players to spend more money, and also enables CCP to boast of a larger player base, when in truth 1/4th the eve player base (or more) are alts.

"Its like runing an election and using dead people for votes"
"Hey look we got 12mill people online world wide!..yeah..to bad only 7mill are real people." So in state they are able to boast and basicly lie about there numbers, and hence thats why they are "apparently" the most played space mmorpg, because of deception. (now)

The loss, you loose a ship, its gone..forever..for good.
Along with almost everything* on it.

Gank squads.....imagine if people were able to spawn camp a base's runways with no worry about aaa... tanks of bomb being droped on them, ...and thats what a eve gate camp is like.

Some one remind me again why it is i pay 25 bucks a month again for two accounts?

OOOh..thats right..investment..make a game that forces people to "wait" to reach a skill they need to use a ship that will most likely  get blown up, only too wait as they invest a year (or more) into that char..and they ither A: throw it all away, or B: keep plunging on getting deeper and deeper in the world of eve..blah"

*kicks his rokh*  useless..worthless.

Avoid it if you can.

This man speaks the truth.  I had to stop playing Eve about a year ago, it's simply too much of a time sink.  I'd spend 3 hours waiting for a go order from the inept Fixian hierarchy..by then hostiles were gone or everyone had left.  I wouldn't be surprised if Firmus Ixion was dissolved by now.

The game has it's moments.  Even now I really would like to play...but it just takes too much time.  There is no "login for an hour" it's practically a 2nd job.  Travel...ug....  Combat is 3 hours of prep/travel and then 2 minutes of combat.  No one engages unless victory is certain.

It is both awesome and horrible.  lol

Towards the end of my time in Eve I made a comfortable living as an arms trader, really did enjoy that, but by then the thrill was gone....maybe I'll come back one day......
