I was reading about the Korean War Memorial, and noted one (dissenting) opinion of it was that it was a romanticized battle scene based on a photo by David Douglas Duncan.

I'm not sure which one exactly, but the guy has a lot of images from WWII, Korean, and Viet Nam.

You know there had to be a lot of propaganda photos taken, but I'm sure the balance would fall towards reality and spur of the moment.
