Question about the Late War arenas
« on: January 28, 2008, 09:08:39 AM »
Just curious why the LW arenas have all of the EW planes still enabled?  Were these planes still in regular operation late in the war (44-45)?  Regardless of that, since the EW only has EW planes, and the MW only has MW planes, then shouldn't the LW only have LW planes?

Because it's fun to hunt LW planes in EW crates.
Also it's implementing some sort of challenge for the better sticks. From a certain skill level on it can be a bit boring running around in LW rides all the time.

For the most part, they could get rid of all the EW planes, cause all I ever see in the LW are all the "hotrods".

Mind you, I am not agreeing that those rides be disabled, for the simple fact that you have pointed out ... there are those who love to pit the EW/MW rides up against the LW monsters.

Blammo ... just think of it as the EW rides are leftover surplus to backup the loss and attrition of the LW rides.

Weren't there, in some geographies, in WWII, where all they had access to was  EW rides due to the fact that they couldn't get the newer planes there with any expediency ?

This weekend I flew two B5N2 sorties, three D3A1 sorties and one Spitfire Mk I sortie, all in Late War.  They do get used on occasion.

P40s fun to bounce around in too. Its great to see a spit and as you get close find out its a 1. You know its either going to be a good fight, or a quick one if the guy "thought" he was grabbing a 16  :D

BTW, I forgot to mention that only LW planes were actually enabled in LW arenas after the split. EW/MW planes were added only a few days later.

I am shocked no has said....

ENY

Last night the knights had to fly aircraft with an ENY greater than 27.  So did the rooks, probably.  Without the early war planes we would've just been sitting in the hangars.:lol

You forgot to add that you died unmerciful and horrid deaths each sortie.  :aok

I doubt it.

The CBI (China-Burma-India) theatre was known to operate alot of earlier model aircraft until later in the war. P-51A's, P-40's, HurriI's and II's, Spit V's, that sort of thing.
