Starting to see the light
« on: January 30, 2008, 05:47:49 AM »
When i started playing AH2 several years ago (to my wife's bane)
the best my system could do was 7 FPS.

I found i could drop troops from c-47s without crashing.
I also found that i could drop bombs from heavy's as long as no con
was nearby to drop my frame rate. lol if my buffs had the misfortune
of happening upon a CV group i was in the drink.

Being a WW2 aviation nut since....
........ escorted home buy the MPs with my brother age six, i was 5.
We had simply exploited a hole in the fencing and were admiring the
C47s lovely propellers.

My father taught nav school and flew maritime patrol VS soviet cold war.
When the argus aircraft they flew took off from CFB Summerside the windows
would shake and vibrate. My brother and i would think "There goes Dad,
flying off to england"

If I were to be plopped into the middle of the atlantic ocean I can think of
none other whom i'd like to have by my side than my dad who could navigate by stars. dad i love you sir

What i'm driving at is that when i first got hooked on AH2, all i could do was
buff or goon, so i use to "resent" for a lack of a better word, the gameplay
sucks, anti ho,all guys do is ho ,ho threads. Mostly, i think now, because i
didn't understand the beauty of the dogfight.

I will admit that my early attempts in fighter aircraft often, if not always, relied
on the HO as #1 tactic.

Picture Gandalf at the end of the Lord of the Rings:
"I will not say do not weep for not all anti ho threads are an evil".

No longer will i squeeze my trigger first in a 1 vs 1 HO.
(although if there is vultching and c47s about then all bets are off)

This whole chasing each other around in the sky for a bit is
turning out to be quite a gas so i'm not going to deprive myself
of some heart pounding, breath holding, head turned sideways,
fun by spraying my load on the merge.

Maybe the occasional anti HO thread is not such a bad thing.
