Yes my dream lotto toy as well, and I already have the rating :D
H500's are amazing handling helicopter when light, like flying around in a super fast sportsbike/car.

Not bad flying, but the French do it with more style.

Both those videos were sweet.

I have loved the MD-500 since watching magnum.

If you want to read about crazy, read Low Level Hell by Hugh Mills.

About being a scout pilot in Vietnam flying OH-6s, (earlier version of 500) aggressively against the NVA and VC.

Like arming the scouts and fighting untell the cobras are really needed instead of just dropping smoke and running and guiding the cobras in. Very good read.

You can't help but love the OH-6 Loach after reading it.

Thanks for the book tip, thought I'd read just about every helicopter related Vietnam book printed. Missed that one. :aok

Though reading Chickenhawk in my teens helped towards costing me a cool 30k+ in my 20's  :D

It was a great read, just read it again not to long ago. One of his guys gets shot down 3 or 4 times in a day.

Squadron/signal Publications had some books with sections on Mills. I think he was in the cobras in action, there was a shot of him in a basket with his shot down cobra in the background, but I cant find my copy. He was also in one of their full size soft copy Vietnam helicopter books, cause they did a section on his scout troop.

Those helicopter ratings sting don't they? I'm right there with you.

On a side note, if you ever get a chance to fly a Bell 407 take it. It's the most fun you can have in the right seat.
