DA furball lake....
« Reply #15 on: January 31, 2008, 07:43:40 AM »
I encountered an la7 pulled his 6 and nose down he went and ran.......forever.   I broke off and saw a spit16 coming in high 10 oclock, I nosed down a little for some speed, and the fella went for the HO and I went over the top and pulled his 6.....he ran......and stik stirred back to his base and drug me through ack!   Both excuses were either low on ammo or low on fuel.  So when did that matter in the DA?  I mean if you dont have fuel or ammo to fight, then immediately auger so that noone wastes their time thinking you want to fight.  It was like they were trying to land.  Damn, if you want to practice landing, go offline!  Disgusting!:furious

Same here.  If I see more then 10 people in the DA (especially when it's at the 30's) I won't even think of stopping in.

Sounds like you want the DA back the way it used to be.  Funny how instead of HT punishing the troble makers, he punished the guys that were behaving by changing the DA to what it is today.  Scary to think what the fix will be now.

At last we see the motive of  why dedalos the first post. He wants kill shooter off.

The dueling arena is not being used as a duel, but rather you want the dueling arena used as a quick furball arena.

I believe it being used this way and the complaints was why I turned kill shooter on in the first place.

A very simple fix is for me to turn all radar off, that way if you use the fields as intended no one will know where you are on the map. And hence you can just move to where no one will bother you.

That may/would probably help the problem some what, but unless you can have some people in there that can enforce certain rules, guidelines, and discipline over the all channel the DA will most likely continue to be just as "dweeby" as ever.

Just my 2c.

Thats pretty sad for a DA. A lot of this is pretty sad for an MA, let alone a DA. I dont blame Dedalos, and others, for being pissed.

I really like this idea.  I think it would be easy to hide from the tards.

So, if that's the case, then it wouldn't hurt to turn killshooter back on as well!  That way, we well behaved dueler folks would be able to have very quick and easy fights without being disturbed.  :aok :D

Still don't think this will work. If you have enough people it will usually result in a furball. That's why IMO some form of H2H capability should exist.

My motive is to be able to go there and have a duel with out being interrupted constantly.  If there is no other fix, yes, I want kill shooter off so I can protect my self.  Don't let your personal feelings about me obstruct your reading.  Read my posts.  There is no secret motive.

"The dueling arena is not being used as a duel, but rather you want the dueling arena used as a quick furball arena. "

I have no clue what you are saying there.  I have no problem with the quick furball nor with duels.  I just don;t like having duels interrupted in a constant basis.

Turning dar off will make it worse.  People will be going to fields occupied by others not know ing who to engage or not.

You seem to know my motives.  What are yours for not making it a rule that the DA fields (not the FB area) are only for prearranged duels and those duels are not to be interrupted just because it is fun to do so?

Ohhh, wait, I think I translated your post correctly this time.  You are saying that I don't really care about the duels and I am posting only because I want kill shooter off right?

:rofl  Yeah, you know me very well.  Have you ever been in the DA to see what is going on?

Sometimes we have 2 vs 2 or many vs many. It's nearly impossible to find each other without radar.

Long ago we had MOTD with  basics. That worked pretty well.

Just an idea for the free-for-all furballers:
It would work in the DA (with a dedicated area added to it) except for one part.
*Kill shooter is off
*Air starts
*Max. downwind set to start 5k under the air starts (this is what would conflict with the rest of the Duel Arena)
*Corridors as tight as the terrain editor will alow at cardinal points (N, S, W, E, and NE, NW, SE, SW too if possible) that channel into a square medium-large furball area.

I'd add the old clouds in which you can't see beyond point blank, just in case it's possible to fly up to the spawns despite the downwind, but that might get on some people's nerves.  Players that don't know how to fly blind, or people that fly in the arena and it's airspawn shafts for the first time.

It's a pretty gamey setup, but it fits the audience and is the only way I see to keep vulchers away from the spawn points.  5 seconds of arcade flight and the rest of the sortie is non stop furballing like in the old, small free for all H2H maps, which frankly were never equaled in that regard.
It could work with less than all the anti-vulch features (e.g. just the air starts on a small enclosed arena), but that's just to brainstorm out loud.
