Red gear legs on the Bf 109
« on: February 04, 2008, 03:58:12 AM »
I've noticed a few skins sporting red main-gear struts in the game and I gathered that this was to indicate the use of C3 higher octane fuel.

I am correct here? Also, does anyone have any references to support the use of red paint on the main gear on the late-war 109s?

Thanks lads

Check this out: http://109lair.hobbyvista.com/articles/airframes/413601/413601_report.htm

Under Points of Interest it says, "It is usual for both sides of the landing wheels and oleo leg fairing to have coats of finished paint, but on this aircraft the inner sides were finished in a red primer coat only."

Look at the title graphic for DGS.  The 109 in it as red gear legs.
