No, I'm not asking that HT's server place enemy as well as friendly cv locations on maps. I do however think that friendly players should be able to put enemy cv locations and heading on the map. I know we all see the messages in the country channel "nme cv 11 9 8 hdg ne" or some such. On the large maps there may be 8 or 10 enemy cv's to keep up with. Kinda hard to track if you're in flight. Would be nice if you spotted a cv, to be able to put a marker on the map for that cv. Nice to be able to put the heading on the map too.

One possible problem is that "spys" could post false locations on the map. I think it would be worth a try.

1. Make a mission, you can make markers on the map (I believe while in-flight.)

2. With the way LancStukas are operating these days, I think a lot of people would disagree with this option considering if spotted, their CV would be sunk in a matter of minutes.

At least the way it's setup now the enemy carrier division has a chance.

ive said for last couple years. If a friendly flies within visual range <5 miles for example>, then the CV position would put on clipboard map for other friendlies to see. If a friendly stays with in vis range, then CV position is constantly updated. If they leave vis range then this position icon
is last know, have it vanish over time.
say current uptodate icon would be solid like regular base icon. but as time passes <30 mins> have it fade out, or keep it on map as last know POS icon but have it grey or real faint since it wasnt updated in long time by a new recon fly over.

I still consider the current settings (no icons) to be a better challenge. This system might come into play in CT, considering that's where more realistic scenarios requiring updates of enemy movement are bound to occur.

problem isnt really with CV hardness, its the level bomber's
easiness to hit a moving ship which in RL, vitrually impossible
for them to do.

thier easiness has to do with the dumbed down bombsight we
have now. maybe we need a Evasive manuver button for CV Captain.
that when clicked it turns the CV hard right or left, harder then normal
course turns.

I sink ships way to easily level-bombing with B26's in LWB & LWO. The only way I've found that I can't sink them is if there is effective air defense over the fleet.

Personally I'd be against anything that made sinking CVs easier. I'd also be thrilled to see them toughened or in some way made harder to sink. I know when I hear of a CV at a certain grid I have no problem finding it even after climbing B-26s to 10,000'+ and/or flying 3 sectors.

And its something Im doing less and less. First off the odds of the CV even lasting that long to sink it are low. Second Im starting to love CV ops, since starting to fly fighters, more and more and Im getting out of the business of upping 26s and sinking CVs.

With a canny CV driver, a few good gunners, and a few skilled F4u sticks, a CV has a shot to last a bit. But generally?? They just get sunk to quickly. If they get mobbed by bomb and bail Lanc stukas the odds are eventually one will get thru.

A shame really. CV Ops are a fascinating part of the game. My wish is for AH to do something that allows them to survive longer.

Ive stated many times we need different bombs.
HE for general purpose bombing like we do now.
But we also need AP/Anti-ship bombs for use against
Tanks and hardened targets like the Hvy Cruiser and Carrier
we have. HE bombs , AP/AS bomb .

Now u pay for AP/AS bombs with buff perks. Planes that attacked Ships
like all CV planes, maybe B26 Mossi, B25H, Ju88, Stuka. can carry the AP/AS bombs.

sure u can use HE bombs on the ships but make it take 10x more bombs to sink the CV or Cruiser then if you used the AP/AS bomb.

the above would do couple things.
1: stop all the otd suicide lancs/b17s,b24s ect.
2: makes planes used to attack ships move valueable
(Kates,Nates, TBMs SBDs will become valueable attackers)

Bring back the wind! This would make for some serious rethinking of bombing technique.
Yeah there will be pages and pages of n00bs crying (hell I'll be crying too until I get it figured out but that'll be on vox and only my squaddies will have to hear it

) but once they learn to factor in the wind to their drops they will be fine. One thing is certain it will make it harder for the base killers and CV hunters and it will certainly give the CVs a fighting chance.

Makes sense to me................

AH seems to treat carrier groups etc quite differently to other fields....... to my mind they are a mobile airfield and as such should carry all the same objects. To my mind if we can scroll thru enemy field stats and check them then we should see when the CV is down that it has lost its"FH's" or its radar etc. (seems they never lose VH's or Marines/supplies).

For me being able to scroll up and see enemy field stats or even see red rings when enemy radar is down is just gamey.

I quite like the idea of a Cv position being shown when a freindly is within a certain range. That position is then held for a period of time or updated when another freindly spots it. (update frequency defaults to the arena setting if freindlies are continuously in range) Equally if an enemy CV group approaches a freindly field within a range then it should be picked up on radar after all its big enough!

Well, but isn't that what the game is all about? Teamwork?

The problem is that people are level bombing CV's at only 5 to 6k alt. That then doesn't leave even a good CV captain much time to maneuver the CV. And if that had been done in real life, the air cap would have ripped them apart.

While folks are often participating in CV operations, too often no one wants the job of providing air cap. So that then leaves the CV totally open to destruction. If you force bombers to only have to go up to 10,000 ft, that then dramatically reduces their chance of hitting the CV. And that is especially true if you have a good CV captain guiding the ship.

So I don't think that anything needs to change regarding CV operations. CV's just need people working together as a team in order to be more effective.
