Wow.  His idealism is screwy?  So, the government can tell you not to anything it wants just because?

Lazs,

Why can't you just take a second from your journey to put on your seatbelt and then take it off at the end.  Why not take every chance you have to survive in a crash.  If you are on a highway and you crash like trax did I would say you have a better chance of survival inside your car strapped to your seat than in the other lanes of vehicles doing 70 mph + if one of those cars were to hit you whilst you are lying on the road unconscious I dont think you'd live to tell the doctor what hurts and where.

I'm glad some old people don't want to wear seat belts.  I don't want to have to pay their social security.

it is only a "privilege" because the people have let the govt make it a privilege.

in the words of the presidential candidates, "WE NEED TO TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY", but of course they don't mean to give up control over the peoiple.

But you do.  Or does the police/ambulance/hospital just ignore the injuries of morons who don't follow the law.

They should clearly ban any physical sport given the unnecessary risk to your pocketbook paying for those morons injuries too.

there is one time when it should be law to wear a seatbelt. when you are sitting in the rear seat behind the driver or passenger. in a head on bump you become a deadly projectile and can crush the forward sitting occupant to death at even slow speeds.

Please don't poke Lazs with the "always wear your seatbelt" stick.  You wouldn't like him when he's angry.

Lazs is not saying not to wear your seat belt, he is saying we do not need the govt having a law requiring it and fining people for not doing it.

has anyone ever heard of personal responsibility?

I will say one thing, I do believe the law does save lives, take my father, now you think after seeing what I went through would be enough to make him want to wear a seatbelt, but it wasn't, he got a ticket for not wearing it about a year ago, now he always wears it.  I do believe it should be your choice, but theres no arguing it has saved people.

Doubt anyone can trax.  That being said, it's still a direct infringement to make it mandatory for adults.

LOL...  the brits here prove more than one point.. the socialized medicine thing is truly evil for one...  they are "glad" they can force you to be healthy cause.. they have "free" medical?  sounds pretty damn expensive to me if some little know it all can change peoples lifestyle based on if it saves em tax money or not.

as for shrimps thinking that he won't have to pay my social security cause of my thrillseeker  not wearing a shoulder belt thing...  I will not collect what I put in.. I make too much money anyway.    I will also most likely pee on his grave since..

I was born when only tough kids lived.. he was born when every kid needed braces and glasses and had alergies and ADD by the time they reached 12.  I played outside as a kid and played hard.   He spent his time in front of this screen.   "game over" I spent my summers as a kid as a laborer and into my adult life.. he gets a cramp at the gym when he goes every month for a half hour.

I don't wear seatbelts in my Lincoln.. if you are aware.. and drive well.. your chances of being in a wreck where a seatbelt will save you are far far less than needing a gun to stop a violent attack on your person..  He will probly be killed in a violent attack cause he couldn't bother to pick up a gun and strap it on.

In my hot rods...  I drive risky... I understand the added risk.. I wear my lapbelts every time.. they are no big deal.. they aren't uncomfortable and they  don't interfere with my movement in the car.    I never wore a helmet on a motorcycle and I about lived on one for decades.  I never got in a crash where my head was injured.

I survived a car crash (as did the two others in the car) that none of you would have said non seatbelt wearers could have.

I am saying the risk is overblown and that everyone takes risks..  you think nothing of going into bad neighborhoods unarmed for instance.. any cop will tell you that you are risking your life.. really risking it.   you are just too ignorant to know.

I am not ignorant about seatbelts.. I know the risks and the percentages.   I play the numbers..   the lincoln I drive is the same as a limmo most of you have been in... you did not wear your seatbelt in that limmo.
