Ostwind as Flak

How do I get my Ostwind to fire flak? I have tried backspace, as it works with 5" ship guns, but it doesn't work with the Osti. does something need to be done differently?

The Ostwind has only one type of ammunition. It's a rather small (37mm) gun firing impact-fuzed rounds only. It's not firing any "puffy" ack.

Don't use the Osti if you want puffy ack of death.

Spiky ack of Health though...  I don't know what shoots that

The internet has proved this wrong.

Yes dreammaker they are just as lethal and have the same range.  The field gun is steadier than the Ostwind, and has a slower rate of fire than the Ostwind.  Make sure your Ostwind is parked on concrete, put it in neutral, kill the engine(this allows you to hear cons diving on you), page your view all the way up and fire fully zoomed in watching the tracers not the gunsight.  I will only engage cons at a range of 1.5k or less in both.  The flak gun and the Ostwind are lethal out to 3k plus, but firing at something that far away spotlights your location.  Only engage cons that far out when there are only a few enemy planes.  If your base is near over-run then keep your engagement distance shorter.  It sucks to be on the receiving end of one thousand pounds of high explosive!  Good luck to you sir.

Zazen's Osty Guide

The above mentioned write-up by Zazen was my bible for the Ostwind use and operation Dreammaker182.  Learn it well, and you will drive vulchers, cappers, and C-47's absolutely crazy.  It is also a great vehicle for reducing towns & strategic targets to ashes.
