I realize that ENY is designed to even out the arenas.  Fair enough it needs to be there.

However ENY gets so high sometimes you can't even up a KITE!:furious

I haven't been to forums in a while and maybe someone has had this discussion and I apologize for being redundant.

Im just thinking ENY could be throttled back a bit.  Thanks.

It's been discussed often.

Fair warning, you won't like some of the comments you are going to get.

Since you can't search on 3 letter words, it's hard to see what has been discussed so far, but ENY complaints are considered whines, and it's a fair system.

In short, if you don't like your current ENY limitations, change arean's of change sides.

Put your flame suit on killjoy, you're gonna need it.

Griping is good when there's no viable solution available.. For ENY there's the .country command.

Flight is never disabled under the ENY system, even though it says so. Isn't having a pronounced numerical advantage enough? Do you really need the best/most popular planes too?

I think ENY is one of the best things about AH2. It forces some of the less experienced pilots who just up La-7's all day long to fly something else and lear how to fight. It keeps one side from bringing 50 La-7's, Spit16's, and P51D's to attack a base that will only have 20 defenders max. So, I think ENY is a great thing! You learn to fly other planes and keeps the fight as fair as possible.

With deference to KillJoy... ENY and Arena caps are (imho) related. While ENY has it's advantages, and arena caps are supposed to keep the servers balanced, A new approach that would address both issues might be warranted. [donning the flame retardant suit]

I submit that a new system that would cap individual countries numbers would eliminate the need for ENY restrictions, balance the sides more efficiently and reduce (probably not eliminate) mass hoard attacks, as well as take pressure off the capped arena system in use now.

A formula that would limit logging on to a country with more than (picking an arbitrary number) say 15-25 player advantage, might be a possibility.

"Country full, please choose another country or arena" would bee seen when a player tried to log on to a capped country. There are possible problems with this proposal... But both arenas having the same capped country would be VERY rare.
Can anybody see other potential "issues" with this proposal?

Pick it apart if you're so inclined!

My primary beef with the current system is Arena Caps not ENY.

Personally I rarely get bothered by ENY due the my primary aircraft of choice.

Spit IX (20)
BF-109G14 (25?)
FW-190A8 (30)
B-17 (25?)
A-20
BF-110 (G model sometimes gets ENY'd) (15?)
PanzerIV (20)
M-3 (30?)
C-47 (35?)

I don't fly the  low ENY aircraft often because I understand that you get more perkies for kills flying the high ENY rides, and with my meager fighter skills I need every little bit of help I can get!

When the ENY gets high enough that I can't up a 109, I go to the other Arena or start upping whatever German steel is available... lol

Everyone is entitled to opinions. Myself personally? I like the ENY system and believe in the reasons it there. My one beef is that many times guys stay on-line without playing which drives up ENY. But thats not a slam against the system. Its really bad around dinner time USA on squad nights.

There are some real gems among high ENY aircraft I flew that Italian job for the first time the other night and its a really nice airplane. The Japanese planes too. Bomber-wise the KI-67 is a 30 eny killer of attacking fighter planes and has a very high "fun to fly" quotient..

So I tend to look at a high ENY as an opportunity and not a limiter.

Just saying it needs to be tweeked folks, Needs to be tweeked.  I find that the desired effect it is supposed to have does not work that well.

For instance our squad does not see ENY go up and all of the sudden say "Hark!  Oh my ENY is up!  Time to head to the other side!"  LOL  It just does not work that way.  Except for those few people who like to fly alone.
No problem there.

AGAIN  I am saying it needs to be tweeked.:D

Why doesn't it work that way? That is exactly what ENY is supposed to do, encourage people to switch to the side with a lower population.

What is it about your favorite chess piece that causes you such anguish at the mere thought of changing sides?

Is it the people? I find there are good folks on each side, there are also the twits, dweebs and idiots, but they are fairly well spread out.

Don't want to be labeled a "side-jumper" or traitor? Who cares what some twit, dweeb, or idiot you just vulched thinks? You did what HTC would like the players to do.

I jump sides all the time, however out of respect for my squaddies I either switch back when some log on, or I don't attack their country when they are on.

Just yesterday I was was outside 85 turning Wideloads M4 into scrap metal. A few hours later (after the server downtime) I logged back on to find my country with a huge number advantage, I switched up and parked my tank right next to Wideloads and we proceeded to turn some M4s into scrap metal.

ZOMG! I R TEH NIT SPIES!!!! HIDES TEH CVSSSS!!!!!

If anything needs to be changed/added/adjusted it is the addition of an idle-kick timer. Idle for more than 30 min, boot to the lobby.

ENY was NOT set to force people to switch sides. Switching sides will get you around an ENY restriction if you MUST fly your LA7 and such.

The reason for ENY is is to even the force out. So if your country is out numbering the others, you loose the use of the better equipment. You now have to advance using your numbers in stead of the better equipment, so ENY is working correctly.

Good point fugitive.  Good point.

Being new to eny I see the sides here, I was logged in back when we would get run over by the rooks as knights.  Everyone would join the rooks to get the perkies.  So I see how that has changed for the better.

Im thinking from these posts yes, eny is working great.  I agree with coshy though that the idles squatters need booting.
