I believe it means just what it says.   He stops actively campaining, leaves his name on the ballots and see what happens at the convention.

McCain and Thompson sounds ok, just barely though

I almost forgot...  Another One Bites The Dust   :D

also, I'm reading up on "suspend" vs "dropped out", and it's looking like that's just semantics.  Edwards "suspended" his campaign, too.  It's just a way of saving face so he doesn't have to say "I quit."  At least, that's what it's sounding like so far, I could be wrong...

I'm voting for the samich.

My grandma's gonna be p.o.ed when she see he dropped out. She loves Romney almost as much as she loves Tom Brady.

Fred Thompson was the only conservative running... Looks like Ron Paul (For all of his whackiness) is the only republican choice left.

I have not missed voting since 1982 when I first voted.  I am staying home in november... screw it.  I will not vote for a liberal of any party
Vote R.E. Lee '24

There simply isn't a guy (or gal) to be the face of conservatism today. I thought for a few minutes that Newt might be it, (he IS an excellent orator, and a PhD) George Allen's career has been ended by macaca....Maybe Bobby Jindal will be something in a few years.

So, lemme get this straight...  A candidate can stand for fiscal responsibility, pro-life, low/no taxes, pro-2nd amendment, strict constructionist, etc, etc, etc, and just because he espouses a humble foreign policy (which GWB campaigned on, btw...) he's not a conservative?  Gimmie a break...

Sadly Newt's been tarred and feathered in the media previously.  Similar to Rudy, to a lesser degree.

He has some valid points.  And written some great stuff.

Romney was his own man, while not perfect, he's certainly not dragging the same baggage as McCain.  McCain seems to think being a war-hero makes people ignore how poorly he has behaved in the past 8 years.  We had a majority in the Senate and thanks to idjits like him, we had this "power sharing" baloney.  (Where is that now, now that the Dems are in majority, eh?)  When we had the majority in both houses, all they did was squander the mandate and spend like crazy.

Mr McCain was against cutting taxes.  And he seemed to take great pleasure is blocking any progress from the White House.

He can go on about his great military service routine forever.  I know a lot of vets and high ranking officers who did serve their country...but have terrible ideas on politics.  One doesnt null out the other.

The thing is, the media needs to hit McCain with these hard questions.

Lately, the media is painting Conservatives as being stubborn and not getting on board with McCain.  They need to better understand why there is such distrust with McCain.  If we vote for Hillary or Obama, we pretty much know what we're going to get.  If we vote McCain, its anyone's guess.
