Just starting to practice this game offline and get a gaming rig built. (See my post in hardware)

I will be in a rural area and my only choices are satellite or dial up.

I read about lag problems with satellite.

I'm probably going to pay for satellite for general surfing anyway, will I be able to use it on AH?

A few folks use satellite on AH, and EVERYone knows who they are as soon as they get in icon range (can you say, "Gullgutz"?) looks like plane is on rubber band. Ive been using dialup for going on 13 years, get constant 180-220 ms ping, works smoothly. (I'm suspicious that I'm losing snap-shots due to the extra 150ms, but I can't prove it)

I would stick with dial up. Neither are great for packet sensitive applications such as AHII; Dial up is the lesser of the two evils.
