I'm getting the Blue Screen O Death!!
« on: February 09, 2008, 12:07:30 AM »
In December I got blue screened about 2x, January I got blue screened 7x.

So I thought it was my power supply, so I got a replacement with warranty & thought everything was aok; But tonight playing AHII I got blue screened again after having the new PS in for a week.

What do I need to do???

Could it be my vid card??  I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS  by BFG Tech

I have been blue screened 3x in COD4 and the other 6x were all AHII!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  <>

when you get blue screened, it will give you the error that caused it. Write it down, then google it. You'll find a number of thing you can check and most likely find a solution from them.

The blue screen is on for maybe...  1 microsecond, then my computer restarts.

If you use XP, right click on my computer

select properties

select Advanced

Select startup/recovery settings

UNCHECK "Automatically Restart"

CLICK OK

Now when you get a bluescreen the computer won't reboot automatically.  This will give you time to write down the error codes.. then restart manually and let us know what it says..

It might help a bit.

Hmmmm, try the old video card and see if that helps. Had the same problem with the same card. Don't use that card anymore and have found happiness.

Ratfink...

Search the disk for a *.dmp then check the dates to see if the coincide with the bluescreen...if so you can upload the dump or PM me and I will look at the dump and see if I can pinpoint the root cause...

I have 4gb RAM all tested good & the newest Driver for the NVIDIA 8600 GTS.

I just have to wait and see when I get the BSOD again to let everyone know what it says.

Ok, here's what my Blue Screen says.  Happened again tonight while playing AHII for 3 hours.

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen.  Restart your computer.  If this is screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space.  If a driver is idintified in the stop message, disable the driver or check w/ manufacturer for driver updates.  Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vender for any bios updates.  Disable bios memory options such as caching or shadowing.  If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer press F8 to select advanced start up options, and then select safe mode.

Sounds like it the soundcard drivers for your Sound blaster Audigy.  If I remember correctly, that file is for the audigy sound card.  Update the sound card drivers.  If they are up to date then I say unistall it completly and reinstall it.  Makae sure when u uninstall it, u get rid of all the drivers for it before u reinstall it.
