It's a terrible profile :)

Must be 5th AF but the nose stripe is too big and I can't tell if it has white leading edges but obviously it's before the white tail.  The star and bar would be wrong for that time frame too.

I kinda think it's made up

8th FG
35th FS had letters in front of cockpit
36th FS had letters in front of cockpit
80th FS had Letters in front of the cockpit

35th FG:
39th FS had numbers infront of the cockpit.
41st FS had letters behind the engine but also a number on the tail

The Aluetian 39s of the 42nd FS, 54th FG had numbers in front of the cockpit.  There were 39s with kill markings there.  Don't think it belongs to them either as they didn't have the white ID band.  That was an interim 5th AF marking.
