He wants a proper SC ruling on the DC gun ban.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,330171,00.html

I feared the SC would try to squirm out of ruling on whether the 2nd is an individual right. I didn't expect the Bush Administration to encourage them to avoid ruling on this. Wonder if it's too late for Cheney to throw his hat in the '08 ring?

the administration contends that too categorical a ruling could threaten other federal gun restrictions and wants the justices to send the case back to lower courts without deciding whether the handgun ban should fall.
...
Lawyers with long experience at the court could not recall another case in which a vice president took a position different from that of his own administration.

wow, he surprised me with this one...  WTG Cheney...

He'll have to find a way to climb up from his ~30% approval rating, first.

"Seventeen Democratic lawmakers and District of Columbia Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton urged the court to uphold the ban."

I don't see how so many here can lie about democrats position on the second amendment and gun bans.

"but we just want some sensible laws"

Yeah.. like bans and confiscation.

a small majority in congress want a ruling on affirming individual right.

<
They want the court to make it clear that the Second Amendment gives individuals the right to own guns for their protection.>>

You guys know that a democrat and John McCain took away part of our rights as freedom of speech during 04 right?

Well if you dont, him and some liberal got together and made it illegal for a regular person to post a commercail regarding something negative or positive to anybody. And thats who alot of people want running for president. We had it good during the Bush administration, now its just who's gonna screw it up even more, hillary, obama, or McCain.......sad

Thats why 70% of conservatives hate John McCain. Because he isnt really a conservative.

Correct. Liberals all over the country should celebrate with this years election, regardless of who wins the election.

But, as Lazs said, better McCain than Hillary or Obama.

MT..  one of the ways that so democrats took over both houses was for those running to claim to be strong second amendment supporters.

I don't believe them but.. this is a good start.   we will see how these new democrats vote on gun bill tho.

Who knows.. maybe the democrats are learning their lesson about what a whiny loser road gun control is..  how much it is hurting them..

Maybe they are learning to say no to the women.

Well, the approval ratings for the President are a lot better than those for Congress. Which is not saying anything great about Bush OR Cheney, but it says a lot less about Congress.
