Mothers and Family
« on: February 09, 2008, 11:47:49 AM »
Two nights ago i was in the MA watching the normal traffic on channel 200.  My friend in another country was calling out some pretender to go to the DA and I was entertained to say the least.

In the middle of the conversation, somebody yelled out on channel 200 "Your Momma".  That struck a chord with me and needless to say, my friend.

See, my mother died a few years ago from a painful disease and unfortunately, it seems my friends mother died in a wrongful way.  So guys, forgive me if I am especially sensitive and jumpy when people make mother references.

If you are one of those poor souls that find it somehow funny to yell out your momma to other players on 200 of all places, ask yourself:

*Would I say this in his face?
*Am I really funny?
*Do I think I'm that tough behind a computer thousands of miles away from the guy I'm saying "your momma" to?
*Can I at least be decent and call him out for who he is rather than his mother.

What I am saying guys is, please don't go there.  How many other mothers suffered and loved all of us to have us and raise us.

***Special shout out to Bruce, my VP of marketing who is about to lose his mother after she fell and hit her head 2 days ago*****

"YO MOMMA!"

These type of jokes are great!

I say it to my brother all the time.  :)

I've lost family members over the years and two grandmothers.  I've seen the pain of losing a mother before.  Sorry to hear that you've lost your mother SEraider.  My condolences.

I'll never intentionally use a "yo momma" response if I know that the other person has an issue with their mother in real life currently.  I'll continue to say "momma" jokes on ch 200, even after reading your post.  They can be funny if used that way.  You can detune ch200 or squelch me if you have to for a temporary and quick solution to YOUR problem.

It doesn't hurt to think about others, while satisfying oneself with this game.

Your never gonna stop that stuff raider.. Just get off of 200 if you don't want to be offended by the fools that play this game.

Raider, keep in mind that people say certain things only because they upset others.  Just squelch the offenders and forget about it.

dude...i understnd how ya feel, as i lost both grandparents about 16 years ago....and to think about it still hurts like it was yesterday......

but......don't let them under your skin...consider the source(which was one of grandmom's favorite sayings). once you realize that it was most likely a person that could probably be outwitted by a trained monkey, you'll probably get a decent laugh out of it. <>SE

I think all of you are somewhat right.  My point is that some guys are especially sensitive and maybe it maybe out of place to make that comment.  So eventhough you might think its funny and lots do, I just saw my friend (who was a knight) not take too kind to those words.  So I felt compelled to say something here (eventhough he can defend himself).

But as some of you said, some will continue to do that.  I won't turn off 200 kermit but I just wanted to say my piece.:aok

Someone, somewhere is ALWAYS sensitive about something being said. That is where all the 'politically correct' BS comes from.

Seriously, as you go through life, you will find that loss is a part of it. If just being "sensitive" is a problem.... folks might make an effort to be a little less so and grow a thick skin/ sense of humor.

Yeah those "yo mama" players are as bad as those "underdweeblings" whining and calling out some poor "pretender" in the hopes of taking him to the DA to compare donut size.

My mother is seriously ill right now, has been for almost two years, but I wouldn't take it personally if someone said that.  Then again, I never tune 200.

Detune 200 and get over yourself.
