Plane numbers

I did a search before I posted and didn't find anything similar, so here goes. I'd like to see the availablity to change or set the individual plane numbers before you take off, especially during squad ops missions or squad nights. That way, every squad member in the wing would have individual numbers instead of everyone flying the "same plane" illusion. Any of you skinners out there got an idea how this could be accomplished, would be great to investigate the possibility. Perhaps the squad CO could assign individual numbers to the squad members as an added component of Squad nose art. Just my $.02 working overtime.

It would mess up the skin. Unless they made it so the skiners didnt put numbers on the skin, and had some sort of other file that had all the numbers that could be interchangeable.

i think il2 have something like this but i dont know how it would work,i think it would be a lot more trouble then its worth, considering if a squad upped qith like 25 of the same planes.

also it would make the skins un workable as they are now.

plus it would give bandwidth trouble seeing as all those numbers would have to be up dated for each plane as the move through space

I think it'd be workable. Personally, I'd still like to have personal skins.

I love it in IL2 when I fly I am White 8.  And I am easily identifiable as the 109G-6AS in JG53 markings and my distinctive White 8.  It makes it nice and easy to identify elements of your own squadron.:aok

Question is, would we just use random numbers, or would individual pilots be able to specify what your number would be? Or, would be a function in the "Squadron" menu in the OC that would be assigned by the squad C/O?

Also, this would almost require doing away with the historical skins entirely and just having "blanks" so you can actually HAVE the numbers without cluttering the skin.

In my squad I am the number 4 slot pilot in Wing 1 making my number 14.  When I fly I will always go Black 14.  It's just a nice little addition to the game that will give it more emersion.
