On a whim I bought and downloaded an old LIS episode from Amazon.com that I remembered watching as a child back in 1967.
It was "A trip inside the Robot". This episode stood out in my memories with Will Robinson and Dr. Smith trekking inside the robot to repair it after it had grown to the size of a large house.
It was ok, but watching the old episode was kinda like going back to the house where you grew up after many years. You know, it seemed a lot bigger in your memories but after seeing it again it seems small and somehow plain.
Also, with 40 years of special effects in science fiction between now and then the LIS episode effects seemed really campy. (I guess this was to be expected.)
It's funny how our childhood memories are "dressed up" in our mind. It's probably best to leave them be as we remember them.
I guess the old saying is true: You can never go home again.
