So...what is a TCA file?

If you are planning on modifying an airplane in Aces High I don't think you are going to have much luck plus it will get you banned from the game.

The only editing AH allows is custom (historical) skins, and/or terrain editing.

Why you trying to edit or modify the CACHE Files?

that is what a .TCA file is in the  HTC\AcesHighII\cache\       folder

Skuzzy,  Hitech, Sudz   check this guy's IP address.......

I really hope this doesnt lead to anything bad happening in the game. :(

It always makes the team you are on look bad or the squad that you are with.

Some folks jump to conclusions sometimes.

AH isn't like some other flight sims. AH's staff goes through a lot of effort to try and make the flight models (FMs) as historically realistic as possible. They're not going to nitpick every last detail, but they are going to use war-time performances charts and all that.

They don't allow anybody to edit planes, performance, or any other aspects of the FM. Doing so requires hacking of the game itself and is not allowed in any shape. This also helps prevent hacking and other exploitations.

I hope you enjoy Aces High. It really doesn't compare to BF'42 or BF2 (the flight aspect of those games is a joke!). If you can shift modes into a more pure flight sim then you'll love this game.

P.S. TCA files are just texture cache files, FYI.

Obviously you're new, and haven't read much of anything, but HTC doesn't accept much in the way of player created content aside from skins for existing aircraft, and terrains. It's just not worth the headache, and gives the customers peace of mind, knowing that the content is created by the people whose livelihood depends on the quality of the software they create, and not on the whimsies of a bunch of children who can't be bothered to read anything.

You can always make skins for the planes as long as they are historical.  More info can be found on HTC's website about making skins.

Wow, quite amusing how people jump to conclusions here.  VERY VERY amusing.
Just goes to show how a majority of the people who play this game DON'T know. :rofl

Especially the old-timers.

They are quick to judge and SLLLLLOOOOOOOOWWW to understand.

It's ok Carterdan.  With the exception of a select few (and I mean VERY few), these boys here don't play any other games and really aren't gamers in the sense.  Not to mention a good percentage have no idea of the capabilities of other games (modding, etc)  Most are aircraft enthusiasts and were brought to the game via commercials from the History Channel.  I wouldn't put much credence into what they say when it comes to this sort of thing.  They have no clue.  And the minute they don't understand something, they run like little tattletailing pre-school children to Hitech, say someone is hacking or cheating, and expect a chocolate bar after.  :lol

To they guys who accused this guy of hacking:
Funny that you should think someone who is going to hack the game would come onto the game's own forum to find out how.  QUITE amusing.  :lol

And, cheating software?  OMG!  LOL!!!!!
Too funny.....

no laughing matter, that's how the guys caught recently were doing it, a little program that apparently edited game files.

anyways... carter, good on you for wanting to add stuff, and i know where you're coming from. it would be great for players to be able to help out in ccreating planes.

the thing is, in a game that revolves around accuracy, HTC are reluctant to use anything apart stuff they created and know to be accurate. seems dumb at first, but it's actually pretty clever and it's for the best. FYI anyone caught cheating or hacking the game code is permabanned, so mentioning that you want to edit game files doesn't go down too well...

if you really want to 'mod' the game and create stuff for other players to enjoy, take a look at custom terrains. decent new maps are always appreciated and are enjoyed by everyone in the AH community, not just the few guys who DL your mod. nothing like spreading your work to a large, appreciative and thankful audience :).

good luck :)
