Tough for "noobs"
« on: February 11, 2008, 11:45:27 AM »
First impressions:

Could use more detailed instructions/help files. can't figure out how to use text radio. don't really understand maps.

Is there a warp in flight feature? by the time I can fly to where help is needed, it's over.

Not really sure how to play, just fly around looking for red lettered planes, I guess.

I can only fly days mon and tue so it might be hard for me to get training.

Only place to find day time action is late war arenas where I get shot down w/o firing a shot.

Cool game though, even enjoyed getting shot down.

Look at "Learning the Game". All about how to use the radio and how to read maps :aok

And don't worry. Most of us had the same troubles at first ;)

Hang in there JimSom88.  It is a tough road to hoe.  8 months in AH now, and I can finally take off with confidence that I will shoot down the enemy.  Read over the game info section(over and over again).  Post requests in this forum for specific help topics.  Pick a plane or two and stick with them until mastered, then branch out.  I highly suggest the Spitfire's VIII & IX.  Take time to find a good squad that has a willingness to train up new members.  If you get frustrated, take a break and up a ground vehicle for some ground pounding fun.

Exactly as Lusche said, we all had trouble at the beggining.  This game can be tough starting out, I know it was for me because of the steep learning curve, but that is what makes it fun.  I always wanted to get better so that after time the amount of fights I would win would increase.  When it finally clicks and you know what you're doing it can be so fun, especially if you're fighting someone about the same skill level as you.  Getting with a trainer, or even 1v1ing in the DA can help you get over that curve so much faster.  Stick with it, and it will all come in time.

Don't give up on training. The training arena is a great place to practice.... you can't get shot down in there. Also, "Spatula" is a trainer out of New Zealand or someplace out there, so he is easier to reach during the "day". Send him an email at "spatula  at  flyaceshigh.com"

Heheh, we've all been there. Why, I remember wwaaaaaay back, probably the first time I installed AH. I went offline, took an F4u, 100% fuel, bombs, rockets, started the engine and tried to lift off at 100mph.

I spun out viciously 2x in a row and couldn't get much alt my 3rd time.

:rofl :lol :rofl :O

You'll get the hang of it!

Just keep in mind certain planes are MUCH more docile than others. They're easier to learn with for first-timers.

Yes it is tough...  That's what makes it such a great game to play..

I agree with others.  I started just over a year ago.  I read everything I could find on the trainers page.  I read for over 2 weeks before even firing up an engine on line.

Get with a trainer is my best advise.  Here is a direct link to the page you need to contact a trainer Trainer Roster

They are some super guys.  To get the most out of their time, listen and do what they say.  Don't waste their time asking for cheat codes, or other such nonsense.  You will still die a lot, but you will at least start the learning process.  Since they are busy, come by the training arena and ask for help on the basics.  Sometimes you might be surprised how many will jump in and assist.

It takes time to get good.  After a year, I still feel like a noob..

Uber, posting a complete email address almost guarantees it will be picked up by a spam-bot. That is why you see a lot of name AT something DOT com posted.

I still get shot down regulary but I still have fun at the same time.  I've been trying to get my cousin started up on AH, but he doesn't have the money to play, but will hopefully get a job soon.  Don't give up and keep at it!:aok
