They are much more like the Hispano 20mm

Hispano 20x110: 860m/sec, 130g, Muzzle Energy ~ 48KJ
Il2  23x152B: 880m/sec, 200g, Muzzle Energy ~ 77KJ
WW 20x138B: 900m/sec, 132g Muzzle Energy ~ 53KJ

Well.. so much for perking it.  I'm surprised an AAA gun battery that was fitted to a tank chassis was no more powerful than guns fitted to a plane.

I'm just hoping it's got a longer effective range. What's the max range of the plane-mounted 20mms? 600? 800? I thought I saw ~2200m listed for the Flak38. That would be swell.

Well, it was more powerful than german 20mm guns fitted to planes ;)

It an evolutionary thing. Like most 20mm AA guns it had it's roots in the early 30's and wasn't much unlike other nations ack. And keep in mind that the Hispano was an exceptionally powerful gun for airplanes at time of introduction.

Seeing the shortcomings of a 20mm AA round, the 37mm was developed, and during the war they were working on 50mm & 55mm AA guns:

I don't know this for any certainty but it looks like the Wirbelwind's 20mm AAA-cannon has been in the game since the introduction of trains (fall of 2001). At least it visually looks very much like the German 4 gun flak battery (2 cm Flakvierling 38) that was mounted on several different platforms during the war...including the Wirbelwind. When the field ack got beefed up they appeared to the airfields as well.

Thanks Lusche.

Hub, bullets time out at 1.5K.  Including the Hurricane-D's 40mm but excluding the PT boat's.  It's too bad the HE rounds don't live longer, they could probably be useful even beyond that range.
e.g. a Yak9T round shot from 2K out, straight down into soft or open GVs, or landing on bomber formations.

Moot, I think I've got B-17 hits from a yak9T from over 1.5k up at 15-20k alt before. I think that timeout is only for smaller rounds, and only for plane-based, I'd bet. I know ostwind rounds go past 6k. I've been bracketed by some....

players from well outside icon range before, so I know that one lasts longer.

I don't think it's true however. I believe the max on the ostwind is 3K or roughly thereabouts. I will test this later.

It is, 3K or maybe a little more.

I was saying the 9T round going further than the generic 1.5K limit was cool.  I guess I'll try it out, I remembered it disappearing the same as every other round.

They are just about to add 4 times the amount they have in a year and half.

Let's hope they are on a roll.

That was prolly cuz all the new people were joining after watching the commercails on the history channel and the military channel.

But after a whole bunch of people joined up, and demand rose for new planes, they decided they needed to put em in. But i think they should have just 1 HUGE update and put in like 3 or 4 gvs and 3 or 4 planes. (better T-34......M-26 pershing......Panther Tank) and i guess idk for bombers (tu-2, Betty, He-111) and i think besides some missing russian planes, and probably 1 or 2 missing japanese planes, we have all the planes for atleast mid and latewar arenas and AvA maps. :D
