WWII Vet:"Only problem was I ran out of bullets"
« on: February 15, 2008, 04:36:53 AM »
Looks like another case of two punks bringing a knife to a gun fight. Calling 911 won't help you when predators break in to kill you. But a personal firearm will, it's the original point and click interface.

Regards,
Sun

Two men obviously thought James Pickett, 80, was an easy target when they showed up at his home on Saturday with a knife.

"He just came through that door, stabbing and beating," said Pickett.

Captain Clint Pullin said it looked as though the men wanted to kill him.

But before you worry too much about Pickett, learn a bit more about him.

He's a WWII veteran, former firefighter and lifelong John Wayne devotee.

In short, even at 80, he is someone you just don't mess with.

What the men didn't know is Picket had taken a pistol and put it in his pocket before opening the door.

"He jumped and turned and I shot him," Picket said.

The two brothers, Paul and Holden Perry, ran but didn't get far before calling an ambulance.

A bullet just missed Paul Perry's spine.

"The only problem was I run out of bullets," Picket said.....

The question begs: Did he just have one bullet or was he a bad shot?

I just guessing but they said he put the gun in his pocket before he went to the door so I would think it was either a .22, .25, or a 380,  small enough to fit in a pocket but small clips too, like 5 rounds?

I'd be happy to resupply him with ammo. He was under physical attack, wounded and still managed to cap one of the bad guys seriously. Outstanding! You go Grampa!

kinda like this, happened in lakeland while back. the guy killed  1 Cop and his K-9.

LAKELAND, Florida -- Police fired 110 rounds at a single suspect and an autopsy report showed that 68 of those shots found their intended target. Nine SWAT team members unloaded their guns into the person suspected of shooting one deputy sheriff and ambushing and killing a second along with his police dog. Why did police fire so many shots? Well, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd had this to say about it,

"I suspect the only reason that 110 rounds were fired was because that's all the ammunition they had ."
  I suspect he's right.
