The Screamin Meanies 2008

Hi all,

Ever wonder about the 'Setup Up Camera Shots' button in the film viewer?  Me too, and after a couple grueling weeks, think I was able to get some cool shots in this vid.  Please check it out and let me know what you think.

Thanks to all my squaddies for helping me out with a non-stop supply of films to pour through!

Excellent use of film shots!!! :O  I still haven't mastered it yet, but hope to soon. Have a film of me fighting a yak in my 109 that was just an amazing fight!

Absolutly brilliant at 2:53 with the spitfire and the white light lines! :O :O

I've been toying with the camera shots myself, with no luck. Your film was awesome, and if posted as a link on HT's main page would surely lure more players (ie bait) into the game. Well done!

Thank you for the comments!  Trying to get some of the shots in the film viewer was definitely a trial in patience, mixed with a good helping of luck.  I'm really happy it turned out so well!

Getting the basic 'flyby' shot in the film viewer was the basic trick in most of those shots.  That and using the FOV to zoom in or out.  I'm thinking about doing a quick and dirty little tutorial video if enough people are interested.  Just keep in mind it would not be the 'definitive' film viewer tutorial; it would just cover setting up the flyby shots. (Which get easier after doing it a couple of times)

Our CO, Mars, calls it the 'film screwer'.  A much more apt title. ;)

If you took the time to create a tutorial, I'd gladly use it. I've got a film from 2 nights ago where I was in a 262, hunting a 262. At one point the enemy jet draws a bead on the runway of our field, he goes over the field real low, over 500mph. I'm right behind him. I'm thinking a stationary camera at the field watching us both come in, and hearing the engines roar would be kind of cool. But I'll be damned if I could get it to work right using camera shots.

An absolutely stunning piece of work! I have no tips for you, you have definitely made a great film!

I can't agree with your first choice of music. "The bridge over the river Kwai," was more relaxing though.:p

EDIT: You might consider making a down-loadable .WMV version, some of us have problems with Stage6.:)

Hehe literally about to upload it.  Its going on one of our squadmates webserver. (DerHelm hosted by DSLExtreme)  Its got oodles of bandwidth, so it should stream very nicely.  Also, the above avi file is going to that server as well in about 30 min or so.
