Where were the enemy ships?

Sector 10,16

No ships were found.  We searched for 30 minutes.
We were put into a bad position once 15-20 190s came in.  We did mange to drag many of them away from the guys with bombs.

We had to search in 1 sector that was possibly 70% water and could not find those ships.  No puffy ack ever shot at us to indicate we ever even got close.

Weather was cool looking, but it made the fun factor rate at 0 for us.
We could not see the enemy ships.  We did not even see any German planes in that sector.

Was the sector even the right one?

10,16 was to have a TG in it. Was not present so I cannot confirm if it was set properly.

They were there.


Difficult searching conditions are part of this event, and the reason for only one sector to search in.

I really liked having all the weather, I think it adds a more realistic environment and another challenge to the game.

From what I've read/watched it was not unusual to miss a target area or need pathfinders to light a tourch for level bombers. Of cource it can leave scouts and CAP killers at less that prefured alt. From what I can tell it effected both sides equally. And it was defanitly different, which is usually a good thing.

I would like to resonate also that the weather made my first FSO very realistic and enjoyable.. thanks guys....  Whichever group flown the F4Us at sector 9.16 to come into contact with our 109s...  that was some good fun.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with you...

We arrived in sector 10,16 well before T+60.

After searching every bit of that sector with more than 20 fast planes from 2 Squads for over 20 minutes...I can say pretty categorically that there were no ships in sector 10, 16.

Period.

However, there were ships found in sector 10, 17, 5.

Unfortunately for us, by that time, plenty of defenders had already been drawn to the flashing icon of V64.

A disappointing night for most of the Allies...

My2fast and I flew together in the FSO and I have to agree with him. Flying through 2 sectors of thick cloud only to have it suddenly clear up for half a sector was amazing and made the FSO much more exciting and realistic.

As part of the 190 group defending the ships in 10-17-5, I can confirm this. I'm about 95% sure that it was 10-17-5, as I remember calling that out a few times when the tbm's did actually find the ships. It took a while...we were wondering where you guys were. You actually flashed the ships briefly (perhaps on the north side of 10-16) and then V64 began flashing for an extended time, and we were able to focus in on where you were. You did eventually sink the ships though, so can't be all bad. was fun, sorry you couldnt find us sooner.

I placed C120 in10-16-5 before T-/+0. We are looking into the possibility of it leaving the containment area before T+60. Nefarious will deal with penalties if warranted after we get to the bottom of it.

We arrived into Sector 10,16 at T+35.

I had two scouts at 3k search the North side first while the rest went to the middle and then south.  Did a clockwise search of that sector, then the other squad arrived and they searched for it as well.   T+60 came and went.  No enemy aircraft were in that sector either.  Not until we were at the North end of that sector did we spot the 190s in the sector North of us.

In the fog perhaps...?  Coulda swore I heard a fog horn as I was egressing otd.

The TF in that sector was only 2 small Destroyers and was destroyed sometime before T+60.
