I normally fly higher and slightly ahead of or behind my wingman. When engaged, I either drag the con to him, or just fly away if the enemy engages my wingman first. This has proven quite effective.

LOL.. different tactics in different situations. IMHO, one needs to adapt and plot on the run. The main thing is to communicate with one's wingman and watch after each others butts while taking turns in attacks and in cleaning behinds.

No one move or tactic can work continuously... improvisation is the key :)

My primary tactic is I fly with anybody in my squadron and act as bait. It doesn't matter when/where/how, the enemy always goes for me first.

P.S. My wingmen love me. Rack up many kills (until I die)

I do hope you're modeling CT AI after yourself and your wingman!

P.S. I fly like Krusty.

Agree, you definitely cannot go into a fight with a rigid formation and a strict set of rules. We have been tinkering with this for about 3 months and have found it to be blast.  Has added another element to the game and when everything clicks it’s like having eyes in the back of your head and an extra set of guns.  We even started using some of the brevity code to help with communication.

Like the others, I have my wingman drag targets under me for an easy pick.  He is also honor bound to take the fat chicks.

When us Gruppe Outlaws go up for a squad run we do it Chaingun's way: Kill the highest cons first and work our way down. If someone gets into trouble there's usually 1 or 2 of us ready to help. This works great against any numbers! Just last night we went into a fight highly outnumbered 5-26 (or atleast it seemed that many). We all got 4-5 kills before they finally got the last of us. That was a fun fight. :aok

I normally fly in a flight of 4, 2 pairs, i also assign call signs so that the two flights do not get confused.  We normally fly Echelon formations, but from time to time we will fly in delta, and line abrest.

My squad and I have been tampering with different wingman tactics for a while and usually run 2 man wings that can easily be made into 4 man.

First we just started going in hot and communicating to try and bait the NME.
This works well, but we started a new way that seems to keep us alive longer.

One lead, one trail. Distance depends on E state, the fighting style, and aircraft. Basically the trail will always cover the lead's six. That way the lead can be more aggressive with his opponent. Because Either he will be lining up on someone's six, or getting ready to give his trail the kill. There's a lot more to it (when to switch lead and trail on the fly, when to close, when to keep distance and so forth), but this is just a small gist of it. It makes it a lot easier to stay together when the trail only has to focus on his leaders six.
